The box transparent means aluminum polished with a transparent powder coating.
The Kronos is an electronic regualted box. You set the power e.g. to 90% and it holds this value until the battery comes low. This is indicated by an LED. Works with a 18650 unprotected battery.
I don't have the time in the moment to bring all into English. But end of next week everything will be ready (I hope).

Maybe a daft question, but I'm not an electrical engineer (though I do play one on the radio) - would a protected battery cause any issues?

i am thinking the IMR are a bit shorter than the ultrafire 18650 so they should fit.
Yes, the AW IMR should fit. The IMR is an unprotected, safe chemistry battery so it should measure 65mm long.
The really good thing I found out recently about the IMR is that it can handle some impressive loads. It is rated to handle a sustained 10A drain...that is alot of juice for that size battery.

We have a new situation.
When we deliver some items will fail. You can do in production and QC what you want. If you come below a failure rate of 2% you are the absolute king. I have alot of experience in production.
This failed products have to be repaired. To shorten time and to save money one of the board members, lorderos33, will do the service from Florida. In case of a failure caused by the product or the user, you can contact him. His eMail is:

We will put this information later into the English manual as well.
Things are moving on.
