Im a new rookie to mods. I have a istick 20w . I just bought a genitank and i am very pleased with its performance. But i am trying to make use of my 20w max. My istick is rated at a 1.0 ohm max. The genitank comes standard with 1.8ohm coils. There is a 1.5 ohm and a .8ohm v2 coils available. Now the .8 says it could read .8-1.1 ohm. Can I run the .8 on my istick with damage to my mod and get a nice 20w vape without a burnt taste? I know a 1.5 ohm coil will allow me to crank to 20w. But i have a spare smok tech micro adc with a 1.5 ohm coil and at 20w it tastes burnt. Is the kanger 1.5 able to run 20w? On my genitank. And can my istick handle the .8 ohm coil? At 20w max.? I know the gs air is a 1.5 and is said to handle 20w like a champ. Plz help me with some answers. Thanks, Rich

The iStick 20w can read 1.0 to 3.0 ohm coils.
The iStick 30w can read 0.4 to 5.0 ohm coils.

The iStick 20w will not read the .8 coil.
Keep in mind coils are not always as stated. For example, a 1.8 coil may be anywhere from 1.7 to 2.0. It is just the nature of pre-made coils. If you want coils at a specific ohm you will need to build them yourself.

The ohm reader on the iStick 20w is accurate.

Devices such as the iStick 20w and Genitank are not designed for cloud chasing, lower ohms or high wattage. They are not sub-ohm devices. Sub-ohm is anything below 1.0 ohm. There is a learning curve to sub-ohm use and battery safety. That is the territory where batteries can and do explode.

I suggest you spend time with the iStick 20w and Genitank. Use them as designed to learn how they work and the basics of vaping hardware. Learn the max volts/watts that work with which juices, your comfort range, etc. Then, upgrade if you want, at some time in the future.

If you do not already know them learn the problem areas of the iStick 20w. Be gentle with the 510 connection because the threads and pin are brass which is soft and can be damaged. Do not screw a 510 device all the way down. I leave a space, the thickness of 2 business cards, between the bottom of the atomizer and the top of the iStick. If you use the 510/ego adapter that came with the device you will have no problems. If you connect a 510 atomizer directly to the IStick just be gentle. At any sign that is is not threading smoothly stop, then start again. Also, be cautious with the USB connection. Don't attempt to force the charger connection into the iStick. Be aware that the iStick 20w uses mean instead of RMS to read the volts/watts. This results in the device running hotter than shown on the display. 3.0 volts on the display is actually closer to 4.1 volts. It levels out as the temp increases. Don't be concerned about what is on the screen. Adjust it to your comfort and best taste level.

I have several iStick 20w devices. Love 'em. They just require a bit of forethought and a gentle touch. And they are darn good lookin'.

Enjoy!

Thanks for the info. I find that on the standard 1.8 coil for my genitank 9-9.7w (3.9-4.1v) seems to produce the best flavor with wide open airflow. I use a 60/40 vg/pg blend at 12mg nic. And i am ver satisfied with the flavor and vapor. I was just wondering if the flavor would be kicked up if i built or found a coil to burn at 20w. Im not into super clouds. Just a decent cloud with max flavor.

I'm glad we've already had some comments here.

The iStick is a very curious little mod. I have been using mine with mini Nautilus and have not even tried to get the full 20w. The 20w setting is only available using certain resistance atomisers. The nearest I got to 20w was 19.6w with a RBA (RTA).

The truth is, reading too much into the numbers isn't really what the iStick is about. I have an old tech clearomiser on it today (Innokin iClear30S) and set the iStick to volts instead of watts. I used it all day between 3.2 and 3.5 volts - it's plenty powerful enough, when I'm normally up over 4.0v with the Nautilus.

You will probably burn the atomizer in a Genitank even if you can get the iStick to read 20w. It's really hard to make generalizations. Maybe the eleaf atomizers can run at the full 20w.

Try to ignore the numbers and vape to your own taste. No two atomizers are going to be the same.
