Hi folks! I'm basically a carto/tank guy but I like experimenting with other devices. Lately, it's been RBA's. I have a Kayfun lite that works perfectly with a micro coil and cotton...I love it. It sort of took over the front seat to cartos. I've had an AGA T+ for awhile and never could get a good coil in it, so I'd put it away and come back to it from time to time. I finally built a really good wick and coil using the Petar K method. I didn't oxidize the wick with a torch...I did the pulse method recommended. I was under the impression that the oxidized wick was what would darken your juice. I'm vaping RYD2 which is a golden amber color. The genny is vaping really well...no burnt taste, no dry hits...just perfect. I vaped a tank and refilled it. About halfway through the second tank, my e-liquid turned a dark red...like wine colored. It has a funny taste to it as well. I'm new to gennies so I'm asking. Ideas? Thanks.

Oh, it's a 1 ohm coil using .28 kanthal, 400 ss mesh on a mech with aw 16350. If that helps.

its the burned juice on the mesh leeching back into the tank, no real way to stop it, some genis's will do it worse then others, my cobra can go days without this while my megatron will be dark next day. the speed at which it occurs can also depend slightly on how loose or tight the wick is rolled.

usually I try not to fill up the atty if i know it will sit overnight or for long periods so I can avoid this, since i DIY juice I usually just take a syringe and suck out the old juice before I refill and in most cases I can run the tank very low before leaving it to sit again.

I know some people will rinse the wick after every tank by turning the atty upside down over the sink and "pressurizing" the tank with a syringe full of hot water. forcing water through the wick.

in a sense -through vaping on it that part of the wick has indeed become oxidized, and how fast the burned juice goes into the tank shows how well the mesh works for wicking material. just on of the few downsides to this style of vaping, I still think the flavor on a fresh tank is superior to other methods.

same exact juice in both attys 2 days old.

Thanks! That one on the right is about the same exact color I got...started out like the one on the left. I wasn't too worried about the darkening because the taste was still there...then it got real dark, real fast but I was vaping pretty steady on it. All of the sudden, the taste was lousy so I figured I'd ask. I loved it up to that point...great vape. Thanks Thrasher!
