Hey everyone, just started vaping a few weeks ago and have some questions.

I purchased the 'EGO CE5 Clearomizer Starter Kit' from canadavapes.com and now I'm kicking myself for not doing more research beforehand. After finding this forum I realized that joyetech is the original EGO manufacturer and the kit I purchased is technically a clone. Now I'm not trying to put canadavapes down or anything, their customer service, shipping times and e liquid are all great so I will definitely be ordering from them again.

But I have started to question the quality of my hardware. The charger and wall outlet adapter are both clearly cheap and almost look home made, but the batteries and clearomizers don't seem too bad. Of course I have no way of knowing since I can't compare them to a genuine Joyetech. Sometimes they clog up or give dry hits for no apparent reason and other times I wish I had something that offered more vapor.

I found happyvaper.com offers the real stuff and I'm debating ordering another kit.

Would it be worth it purchase a genuine EGO kit to replace mine?

I've also been thinking about upgrading to a more advanced vaporizer but the whole thing is so confusing.. I'd like to try 'dripping' or a MOD but I don't know where to start!

How do most of you vape at home? What do you use when your out and about?

I don't mind investing some cash into this, I've already save a ton on cigarettes. And I don't mind the larger more bulky units.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi and welcome to ECF!

Just from looking at the picture, the charger 'looks' like the same charger that I got with my joyetech eGo batteries... As far a clone versus non-clone, there are members along the full spectrum of opinion on that. I often see eGo style batteries on vendor sites branded with the vendor name, so that seems to be a common practice. So whether or not you should replace your kit is really a personal decision. You may find it helpful to have more than 2 batteries, though, so ordering another kit with the joyetech batteries might be a good option, and then you will also be able to compare the performance.

There are some eliquids which seem to cause 'clogging up' more than others - I have found that is more likely to happen when I use darker eliquids. As far as dry hits, try swirling the battery from time to time, to make sure that the wicks in the clearomizer stay saturated.

I stayed using eGo batteries with either cartomizers or CE5 clearomizers for a long time before I bought a mod, but everyone has their own opinion about that, and for me, I was satisfied with the amount of vapor I was getting. I have a mechanical mod that I use at home and when I'm driving for longer distances that just around town, and I still use my eGo batteries for short drives. When I'm out walking, it depends on which one I feel like taking along with me.

I didn't get into dripping, so I can't offer any thoughts or opinions about that. I'm sure that there will be other responses which will provide more suggestions/recommendations about mods and dripping.

Hey There CanadaDudeMan,
Welcome to ECF.

:2c:
Not sure about everyone else, but I find the chargers and wall outlet adapters, may be the weak link in most "kits".
The "better half" and I both use something similar to this:

Kanger eVod Kit - Red

All are good at home, on the road, in the pocket.....
Charge, fill and go. Both of us are now looking for a VV battery (no guess it will be 2 more batteries, or 3, maybe 4....)
Vision Spinner Black 1300mah
to continue our new found "hobbie".

Ask away, everyone here will have tons of info to pass along :)

The charger and battery you have are most likely as good (may be a bit less) then one made by who ever.

Remember, Ecig's are invented in China and there are many factory which makes them. The key is QC!

So Buying brand name will give you a piece of mind and that's it!

Getting a battery may be EGO -> EGO Twist/Spinner -> Itaste V3.0 -> VAMO... is how you need to go.

The first 3 are about the same form factor. VAMO is huge! But it's good.

As far as getting different tanks and drippings, I suggest start with EVOD tank and a few extra heating coils (heads).

Samples : EVOD Electronic Cigarettes Round Mouth Atomizer: fasttech.com/products/0/10004691/1363501-evod-electronic-cigarettes-round-mouth-atomizer-15
EVOD Electronic Cigarettes Atomizer Heating Core (5-Pack) : fasttech.com/product/1387600

Now you can wet your dripping sensation with this.... [$3.49] https://www.fasttech.com/p/1346104

I use that to taste new juices. Been using the same coil for over 3 months and still works like new!

Do not order eliquid from overseas, customs will take it.

Be happy, Be vappy ...Enjoy!

Cheers

Since 99% of the products we use comes from china I wouldn't get hung up on brand names even joyetech and kanger have their problems with QC if it ain't broke don't fix it.

Yes, most are made in China, but the threading on the Kanger and Joye is much better. Even the Joye charger has better threading then the one which came with my starter kit.

So shipping hardware from the states isn't a problem? I thought anything related to vaping has a chance of being seized at customs..

That would definitely open my options since happyvaper.com lists a lot of their inventory as out of stock.

I'm thinking I might just wait for my clearomizers to burn out, then order an EGO twist battery and some genuine clearomizers or cartomizers.. still confused on the difference.

A brick and mortar store would make this so much easier. Don't think there's any in Edmonton though..

Any opinions on The Curve, VMOD or XMOD for upgrading?

I had my eye on a Vmod after vapage's last 50% off sale, but didn't wind up pulling the trigger. If you do decide to go for the Vmod, wait until they go on sale, rather than paying full price.

Thus far, I have a Sigelei Zmax and a Vamo, as far as my VV/VW mods go. I actually also have a MVP 2.0 on the way too. The MVP 2.0 might be a decent box-mod to start with. As would the iTaste VV/VW. Both are technically mods, but do not have replaceable batteries, so you just plug in the actual mod to recharge it. Both have the option to use them while they are charging (passthru) and also have an ohm's meter built into them.

Back when I first started vaping, I had several ego batteries, some Joyetech, some not. I really did not notice much difference in performance of the off brand ego batteries vs. the Joyetech ones. I would say get another battery if you need one, but you don't really have to just to get the experience of an actual Joyetech.

Lastly, you do not need a mod to try dripping. You just have to buy a 510 atomizer and put a few drops of liquid in it and fire the ego battery. Boom! You are dripping!

I agree!!
One example of brand name product that's not working right.
That's just one. Any one can argue for and against brand. But I have 3 ego batteries and I don't see one better than the other.
The most important thing is whether or not the vendor is going to back it!

So research what you want, order from the vendor that will give you good service and enjoy vaping!:vapor::vapor:

Welcome to the forum CanadaDudeMan, I started with this kit:

https://www.canvape.com/product-p/ultwistkit.htm

With the 1000mah upgrade. I still use everything in this kit, good quality and have had several friends buy it as well, all of them are very happy with it, they are genuine ego's but I really don't have anything against clones. I just recently purchased a Vamo from FastTech in China and it is vaping well. I purchased the Vamo out of curiosity and I can use it for reading the ohms of my coils, which allows me to adjust my twists and the vamo to my liking. The Vamo is very large.....so I only use it at home and always use my ego twists when I'm out. Considering the size of the Vamo the 1000mah ego twists compare very well and of course are very portable. Enjoy your vape! :)
