I don't know if I read this right and I do agree with you on most accounts but, "Name calling and use of profanity will be used to show what really uncaring and socially degenerate people we all really are."??? Excuse me, but I am neither "uncaring" or "socially degenerate"!!!:nah:

No, I know that we aren't, but the other side will work very hard to portray us that way and will use anything they can (including outright lies) to accomplish their goal. You see, most people not only know smokers, but they know that they know smokers. That's important. Literally all people know someone who is gay, but most of them don't know it. People care a lot more about people they know personally (and often care about) than some faceless "other" group that can be talked about as a sort of deviants and vilified.

Hence, those who want the general public to care less about smokers have to show that we are either infringing on their rights (that's how smoking bans got passed) or are somehow basically unworthy of equal care and respect. In that regard, their best shot is if they can collect instances of us behaving badly. Taken out of context, a number of the responses to that guy from the blog, at least as they were reported here, sound pretty unacceptable in polite company.

So, the short answer is "yes" you did misread it, but you probably did so because I am clueless about the use of the smilies and what many of them mean exactly. I'm sure there's one for the specific type of tongue in cheek sarcasm, but I have absolutely no idea about this. I meant that they will really work hard to slander us and that I assumed that you knew by virtue of where I am writing and what I am writing that you would read the obvious (to me) sarcasm. Nonverbals really are all of our communication much of the time.

i sent them a comment.....

it goes as follows

propylene glycol is in everything look at the ingredients to some of your food or toothpaste seriously

also the glycol ingredient in antifreeze and brake fluid is ethylene glycol i used to work on cars for years

ALSO there is no liquid nitrogen in this vapor multiple safety studies have been conducted check your facts before acting irrational and using scare tactics to make money and stop saving lifes

and use common sense you cant store liquid nitrogen at room temperature it would then turn into a gas and dissipate simple 6th grade science

i do have to ask where did you all get your degrees i would like to know when i have children what colleges to NOT send me children too

-Thanks

and then once i did i got this...............

You guys want to know what's really funny about this whole thing? Everyone is screaming about how propylene glycol might be hazardous. Granted long term there might be a problem BUT..... if you check the MSDS it clearly states that there is no adverse effects from inhaling propylene glycol.
PROPYLENE GLYCOL
That's a link to the MSDS on propylene glycol. Some of it makes me laugh as it says it is a skin irritant but yet it's used in things like lotion and toothpaste.
Now I'm not sure who makes the MSDS sheets, but there is a lot of contradictory information on it. I can see how this guy would easily make his mistakes. But the problems he stated with it come from ingestion not inhalation. Maybe we need to go after the MSDS people as well.

Good point. When I heard that Propylene Glycol is used as a food additive (to retain moisture, a preservative) I started looking at the ingredients in packaged foods and sure enough I noticed that many packaged foods contain Propylene Glycol, albeit in smaller amounts than we are inhaling on a daily basis. Even if we do find out that PG is not "healthy" to inhale, anybody puffing on an e-cig for awhile (I've been at it for about 8 months) can tell you, anecdotely, that it is clearly a better alternative to cigarettes. We know cigarettes kill!

I'm tired of people telling us that it may be unsfe and we need more studies etc. We certainly should have more studies but let us decide what to inhale into our bodies. The alternative (cigarettes) is a real killer. These may be, though it is unlikely. So, leave us alone!

Honestly I'm not sure whether to laugh hysterically at the person that wrote that.. or to get angry that there is actually someone that stupid on the face of this earth and someone hasn't whacked them yet. Honestly.. is that person supposed to be a lawyer?? Please tell me that you can not get a law degree when you're that idiotic? *grabs head with both hands and falls to my knees* OH my brain! It hurts! the stupidity is overwhelming!!!

Ok.. I'm done being overly dramatic.... I just cant stand people that are that stupid and actually believe they are smart GRRR

If you have purchased electronic cigarettes, or have been injured by using “e-cigarettes,” please contact us to discuss your legal options.

The stupid thing is they'd probably get far more support and make far more money with a class action supporting electronic cigarettes. No-one's been harmed by electronic cigarettes, quite the opposite.

It's the attempts to limit the availability of an ostensibly safe smoking alternative that is deserving of legal action.

Good thing they moderate the comments, so that anything that makes sense or points out the wrong headedness of the article can be deleted..

Hrm, could the e-cig manufacturers sue to libel? Not sure if that'd work... but one would think there's some way to stop provable lies such as this.
I kind of mentioned that in my comment at the article "Good luck - I'll look forward to the counter suit."

Too many lawyers live to latch on to nonsense like this. More often than not, they're the only ones walking away from class action suits with significant money.
