So I've been trying out new coils with 26 ga kanthal. But after a couple hit. I get a bad dry hit.. I check out my cotton and it still pretty juicy. If I add more it does go away .. any thoughts?
Without more information on the atomizer, coil, wick and PV... no, not really. ;-)

my bad. It's a igo-w. On a sentinel m16 mod. It's a 26 gauge 5/6 wraped on a 7/64 drill bit.. cotton wick.. .4ohms. And yes I do got a bad ... battery lol..the air hole is drilled out to a 3/32
Hmmm... that's a pretty large ID coil, and, unless I've misread your data, the math on that doesn't add up. To get 0.4Ω with 26 ga. on a 7/64" (.109" or 2.78mm), I come up with a 3/4 wrap. A 5/6 wrap would net around 0.7Ω.

Anyway - that's just the math, which doesn't always represent reality... and is beside the point.

Disregarding coil location and total wick amount (which are important elements themselves), I'd be inclined to look at how tight the wick is in the coil, and how densely it is compressed. Too tight, in either case can restrict juice. The juice PG/VG will also have a bearing on capillary action quality.

I am still just learning, but I've experienced the same problem you're having. I just did a new build (28g, 5/6 wrap 2mm diameter) and finally got the cotton just right. I read something yesterday about the guy recommending not "twisting" it to get it through the coil. So I kept that in mind while I proceeded to twist it in... :)

What I did differently was I wasn't so aggressive in twisting it so tight that I could thread it through a needle, I just lightly flattened and pulled and then worked one end to a "point" just narrow enough to get through the coil. I was able to see what RIP Tripper says about being able to work the wick through the coil back and forth with some resistance but not a lot. Once I juiced it up, I actually saw the cotton expand for the first time.

Keeping the cotton light and fluffy and dense enough to feed the liquid up to the coils but not so packed that it gets choked and slows down the process (leading to the dry hits). I just tossed an earlier build with cotton soaked in juice but hitting as dry as the Sahara.
