So now it's time to make my own juice. My fiancee and I both vape and we spend way to much money on liquids. I vape 5-10ml a day and that's just on an istick 20 with a nautilus tank.I'm looking into bigger and better mods and tanks but I know that's going to burn more juice so time to take the step to make our own. I'm just on here asking for advice from all who do it themselves. I also hear it's best to store and use glass instead of plastic? I'm a high vg user, I like big clouds but also a good throat hit as I want a satisfying vape also.... all help is appreciated. We also have two kids so keeping it on the cheep side is kind of a must lol... thanks in advance..

DIY flavor shack, Mount Baker Vapor, and Bull City Vapor have great FAQ's. You tube has great videos. Watch a few, decide what you will need for what your comfortable with and dive in. I use 50 Mg nic base, as that is what I am comfortable using with no PPE. If you can measure ingredients in a recipe you can DIY.

Google recipes, there is a good thread here as well with recipes and DIY Info.

For a start, you could just use a ready mixed base with your favourite nicotin strength. That's what we did at first, too. You put an amount of it into a liquid bottle, let's say, a 10ml small one and you add flavour.
Depending on the used flavour you calculate in advance. 10% on 10ml that's an easy peasy 1ml of flavour, so you take 9ml base and add 1ml of your flavour. Even that way it's so much cheaper than buying that stuff !
DIY isn't rocketscience! Just go for it and have fun.

I would Suggest using Glass over Plastic when ever Possible. Especially for your Nicotine Base.

And if you have Kids in your House. I would STRONGLY Suggest that you keep ALL your DIY Supplies, Especially your Nicotine Base, in something like a Locked Filing Cabinet.

I saw a good tip posted just the other night. Mix after the kids are away or asleep to avoid costly distractions. Of course safety should be observed as well. Right down everything you do and where you get it. If you find that you like the juice you make, do it better with a scale instead of measuring mls. It's more accurate for large batches. I won't mention names but some of these tips are brought to you by other ECF members. :)

All I can say is start out with smaller percentages of flavor as it is easier to add than it is to take out. ;) Here are some good reads on DIY from 2 well known here at EFC. dannyv45's blog | E-Cigarette Forum and also Hoosier's blog | E-Cigarette Forum When I need to mix when kids are home and up, I have them stay out of the room until I am done and all cleaned up. Also, yes, glass is always better than plastic.

At the top of this page your going to see a link for the sub forum of DIY. Tons of good information there and lots of people more than happy to help get you started on your journey into DIY. Just be warned, you and your fiancee are going to be shocked when you see how easy it is to make great juice for way less than $1 for 50 ml.

I started vaping in March, did my 1st DIY over the past 2 weeks. By doing a little research on recipes and taking the hints from all of them I made a savory batch of 10mg Strawberry Custard that is the dogs bollocks. I over bought on the ingredients though. So I have over 300 ML of it, starting to give out samples at work. Small samples.... keep'em on the hook :)

Just as a suggestion, as a new DIY'er I would keep my batches smaller, like no more than 100 ml at a time. Reasoning is that you made what appears to be a great shake and vape but when that juice reaches a few months old, it will be different. I have some juice on my shelf that was great as a shake and vape but after a few months when everything had a chance to blend and meld, it became down right nasty lol
I also have some juices that was ok as a shake and vape and after a few months became great.

I agree. My test batch was 15ML, then a 50 (given away) and then I had 240ML bottle of VG opened from Ebay, so I just used it for another. The positive, I probably will make some folks happy and the bad, out $20 :)

Check out bulk apothecary. 10lbs is one gallon of VG and is selling for $13.40 and shipping is around $10. I been getting it by the gallon because I usually mix max VG or 75/25 depending on what I am mixing for.

Buy VG and PG by the Gallon, or several litres at a time, you can never have too much of that stuff.

Check out Wizard Labs. Pick up some nicotine, PG, and VG. Decide what types of juice you like most, and purchase a few flavors that fall in those categories (ex: I like sweet vapes, so I order bottles of Vanilla Cupcake, Custard, Marshmallow, etc.). Alternatively, and the wiser thing to do is go online and find recipes with good reviews, that also sound appealing to you. Use a juice calculator to determine how much of each liquid you would need. Purchase accordingly.
Get a FEW syringes, not just 1.

If you vape 10ml/day then you vape 3600 ml per year. That's slightly less than a gallon. As previously mentioned you can buy vg for around $25/gallon shipped. Same for pg.

A liter of 100mg nic runs about $50. That makes about a gallon of 24 mg juice, 2 gallons of 12mg or 4 gallons of 6 mg.

Your cost for a year's supply of unflavored juice is $50 - $100. Or less depending on nic.

The money is in the flavors so be careful there and buy carefully. I buy 8ml test vials from Wizard Labs and 4oz bottles from TFA direct or some other suppliers that price similarly.

You can make 30% flavored juice (as high as most people go) for about 3.5 cents/ml. As long as you don't get carried away with flavors and end up with a gallon of flavoring like I did :)

I just spent 66 at wizard labs...got a bunch of test size flavors... only got 120ml of 48mg Nic. Vg base. Then 250ml of vg and pg. Plus syringes and a few empty bottles.... probably got like 12 flavors to try lol I'm a bit leery about working with anything stronger for Nic as I have two young kids at home with me.even though I went to college for chemistry and I am well aware of safe and proper handling I would rather not take the chance... Plus only going to be mixing 8, 6 or 3.... maybe up to 10 for stealth vaping at work lol so should still last a while... once I get a couple batches made and I'm sure that I will continue doing it then I will buy by the gallon lol thanks for the info
