Hello everyone, I've recently started e cigs and I'm looking for more value and maybe better performance than what I have now. I started out with the disposables at gas stations to see if this was for me and then I liked it so much that I bought a Finiti which was the only rechargable model I could find so that I wouldn't go back to analogs. I want something that produces more vapor for a more full feeling when I inhale if that makes sense and the only other option I'd like is for what ever is cheaper as far as refills. With the Finiti I buy the refill cartridges and they are $25 for 14, each cart is equivalent to 25 analogs.
I'd like to spend less than $60 on my next model, I don't care about cosmetics and size just performance. I was leaning towards an ego model, but to be honest after looking around at all the carts, clearomizers, and tanks I'm a little confused on what would be the easiest to deal with and still get what I'm looking for. Any help would be much appreciated!

KGO starter kit.

Elite Vaporworks KGO Starter Kit with Boge LR Cartomizers - KGO

Each battery will last you a whole day before having to be recharged. It's about the size of a sharpe.
As far as whether to get cartomizers, clearomizers whatever, it depends alot on how much you're going to be vaping. Cartomizers are good to start with. If you find you have to refill them too often, then clearomizers hold more juice. If you buy juice, and fill the cartos/clearos yourself, you'll save ALOT of money, as opposed to buying prefilled.

Welcome to ECF!

I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will be along shortly. But, in the meantime, . . . .

If you prefer something that looks about the size of a cig, I would suggest the Smokeless Image Volt.

Otherwise, I would suggest an Ego or Kgo with 2 ohm cartomizers or Stardusts.

There's a lot out there nowadays. But, for me, those are the best choices for getting started. You can always branch out and experiment from there.

Hi Eddie. Congrats on quitting tobacco!

As a recent convert to e-cigs (not even three weeks) I have some suggestions on extras to include with your first order. Might as well just pay the shipping fee once and not have an emergency where you're not sure you'll make it before the next order arrives by mail.

So here's my suggestion. Get a sample pack of liquid because you may not like all the flavors. Maybe even order two samplers so you don't run out. If you get a starter kit that includes an atomizer, add cartomizers to the order. If you get a kit that includes cartomizers, add an atomizer to the order. If budget allows, get a second set of cartomizers.

Lastly, welcome to ECF

while i agree that its best to get "Extras" i wouldn't go overboard right away, you may not like something about whatever kit or carts, clears, attys you get and you don't want to get stuck with a bunch of stuff that you will never use.

So get a cart or two or what ever just don't buy ten of them until you know they work for you. then go nuts.

I tend to buy my Cartos at about 60-70 at a time. but I know that i will use them all

I used to smoke two packs a day and I vape a lot, doing my own refills sounds like the way to go. So clearomizers will hold more than a cart. Does the KGO deliver plenty of vapor or would I have to modify it?

Most of your vapor production has to do with your VG. I use a 70/30 mix and get plenty of vapor. That's 70% PG 30% VG.

Does the 2 ohm allow more vaper? Is there some kind of standard things to look for depending on my needs, battery power and the rating of the cart. I didn't know the cart did anything electronically

Thanks I'm also at three weeks, I tried an analog at the 1 week mark and I wanted to barf so I guess I'm really lucky at how easy it's been, but now I want to vape and of course like a typical man I think I need more horsepower lmao

Welcome to Ohm's Law. Here is where you figure out what ohms resistance to get for your device. Most people like to vape somewhere around the 8.0-10.0 wattage. The KGO is a 3.7 volt device. That is a constant. If you put a 2.0 ohm carto on a 3.7 volt device, you're going to end up with 6.8 watts, which is on the low side. If you put a 1.7 ohm carto on a 3.7 volt device, you'll end up at 8.0 watts, right in the sweet spot area. Here is a link to the ohm's calculator. This is what I meant by fiddling with variable voltage BTW..

If variable voltage interests you, the ego twist is a good introduction to it. Some people new to vaping just want something that works easily without having to do any fiddling or figuring out what voltage to set their device on. If you want to fiddle, get the twist. If not, get the KGO.

Thanks for the tip on the vapor, the only thing I miss from the analogs was that first big puff I used to take. I'm a fiddler so I think I'll pull the triggeron the ego twist, thanks again for all the help

You may be confusing a cartridge with a cartomizer. A cartridge does nothing but hold the liquid for a separate atomizer. a cartomizer is a combination of cartridge and atomizer together.

I prefer 2 ohm cartomizers with a regular Ego/Kgo type device because I don't feel like the standard resistance (about 2.5 ohm) cartomizers provide enough vapor or flavor with the voltage provided by an Ego/Kgo.

The Twist is actually a really good choice too. That way you can experiment better with different kinds of cartomizers, clearomizers, and tanks. With the Twist, if the vapor/flavor/throat hit isn't quite right with whatever carto/clearo/tank you're using, you can just adjust the voltage on the Twist until it's perfect!

That's exactly what I was doing and I'm actually an electrician so I was like hold on a second the atomizer...haha this place is great and I feel a lot better about all the options now.

There are many, many devices and attachments out there. Many, many, many. None are perfect, and arguably none of them will be the only device that you will need or want.

Please listen to what Grimm Green, one of the most widely respected reviewers has to say about the Joyetech eGo-C Twist.

THE EGO TWIST IS A GAME CHANGER - YouTube Grimm Green Twist Game changer

Some people say that you, or a typical beginner, will be too confused by the knob on the bottom that you turn clockwise for more voltage (and therefore more watts, or heat, at the coil that vaporizes the e-liquid/juice), and counter-clockwise for less. I give you, and them, more credit than that.

The Twist is the recently-released "next generation" of eGo-class device, a class that I believe was started by Joyetech, which is a Chinese company with a very, very good reputation for products of very good quality and reliability that are sold at a fair (IMO) price. For the first time, it offers variable voltage in an eGo-class device. Variable voltage allows you to adjust the amount of watts sent to (or generated by/within) the coil (the coil is the working part of an atomizer).

The kGo, Riva, Joyetech eGo-T, and Joyetech eGo-C batteries are fixed voltage. I see no compelling reason to start out on fixed voltage now that the Twist has arrived on the scene. I have received quite a few responses, but I have found none of them to constitute "compelling reasons" to start with fixed voltage if you do not require a ciggie look-alike.

The 650mah Joyetech Twist is about an inch longer than a 650mah "regular" xGo battery. To me, that's fine, since I think they're a little on the short and stubby side in the first place.

That decreases battery life somewhat, since the 650mah Twist is about the same length as a 1000mah "regular" xGo battery. My solution: get three Twists as soon as you can, or just two and keep a charger handy. You can get a USB cigarette lighter adapter from Walmart that has two cigarette lighter outlets and two USB outlets.

I have heard that "you don't need variable voltage". True; and you don't need your legs, either. But they're nice to have.

They cost $22 each. You'd have to buy a charger (two pieces), a drip tip, and some cartomizers. I like Boge 2.0 or 3.0 single coil stainless steel XL's, that you could use as-is or punch or slot to use inside a Smoktech 3.5ml DCT tank. I also like the Vivi Nova atomizer tank. Oh... get some juice, too. Tobacco flavor: Backwoods Brew "Virginia" or "Casablanca". Non-tobacco: Backwoods Brew Root Beer or Peach. Vape these while you explore other flavors.
