Hi everyone,

I'm ready to buy my first starter kit, but I am really overwhelmed by the amount of info there is on the various models and brands. The info on this website alone makes my head spin. I thought maybe I would post what I was looking for from an e-cig and maybe you experts can refer me to a product and seller that would suit those needs best. Here is what I'm looking for:

1. Money is an issue. Looking for cheap...but not the sketchy kits you might find on places like dealextreme. If I could find a kit less than 40...that would be great.

2. I want manual batteries.

3. I want to be able to refill my own cartridges

4. Preferably...I'd love to find a place with fast shipping as I'm pretty disgruntled with my tobacco smoking ways and want to make a change ASAP. I looked into e-cigs about a year ago but then got distracted by something else in life before I could place an order. I don't want more time to go by...I really want to make a change right now.

If anyone could recommend a model and supplier, that would be awesome. Thanks so much...this is a great forum and I hope I can contribute more than a question here in the future.

Junk...Welcome to ECF! Yes, you will need to buy blank carts to fill with e-liquid. The ones that come with the kits you can rinse out the e-liquid if you don't like it. I have been using blank 901 carts with my 510 and I like them much better. They seem to wick better and they don't have to be "aligned" with the atty bridge. As you roam the forum you'll likely find lots of "mods" for the cart filler. I don't use any of these...I just use a cart a few days then toss it and get a new one. If you want to order from China (which I do) the blank carts are very cheap...I just paid $16 for 100 of them!

thanks everyone for your help!

are the products direct from china...safe?

so i've read a lot about the 510. everyone seems to recommend it. what are the drawbacks of buying a "mini" model...shorter battery life?

and yeah, greenie i've been going through the supplier list one by one. i see a lot of 510's listed...are all 510's genuine 510's by joyetech...or is it like any other product where there might be a generic version avail (which may or may not perform just the same). trying to wrap my head around this whole product market.

thanks CJsKee. thats what i figured...i mean what isn't made in china...but the red flag goes up whenever i hear the country mentioned, ha ha.

i read somewhere on here about the stuff from dealextreme being possibly unsafe. whats your take on kits like this: dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.18431

i know if its too good to be true it usually is...but 13 bucks to try something i might not take to is certainly tempting, lol.

Well...ya know...why not? I've bought batteries from DealExtreme and they were fine. I looked at the DX deal and for $13 why not. Like you said, you may not like the whole e-cig scene, and that would at least give you some idea of what its like. If, however, you decide to go with say the 510 and don't like it, you could always post it for sale in the classifieds here on the forum and some one would probably snap it up in a heartbeat :)

thanks again y'all for your help! this really is a great forum. so i've got the 801 and 510 on the decision block. went through every supplier listed on here to look at prices and here are the choices i came up with...

(sorry i can't post them as links...it says i can't post links til i've posted at least 15 times, lol)

801 (someone wrote about the 801 on here and i liked what i read...but think the 510 is still a good one to start with)
vaporkings.com/DSE801_White_e_Cigarette_starter_kit_p/801-kit-wht-orng.htm

510
healthcabin.net/white-joye510-starter-kit-product-7268.html

americasbestbuys.com/viewPrd.asp?idcategory=2&idproduct=27

and the 510 kits recommended on here by members:

cignot.com/product_p/kit-510-nbx.htm

freshsmoking.com/joye-dura-c-510-mini-essentials-kit.html

i'm leaning towards the healthcabin kit. anyone have any thoughts? now i need to start researching liquids, lol.

ok i did it! pulled the trigger! i ordered the 510 kit from cignot and then ordered some liquids and empty carts from rockymountainvapor. i can't wait...and its going to be harder to wait the 8 hours charging time when it arrives :) again...thank you all for the help.

Well, you already purchased so I'm a little late on the uptake here :)
Hope it's going well.

If for some reason you aren't satisfied or if your order was stopped at customs or ?? (I read you wanted to buy from China cuz it was supposedly cheaper), then I'd recommend VaporKings.com.

I'm also a newbie and I ordered from them. What I like is that you get TWO batts, TWO attys, and those 5 carts that come with the kit are five different flavors so you actually can check a few out rather than just getting "tabacoo flavor" in multiple strengths.

Their starter kit is $55, but that's only $20 more than what it looks like you paid for the "wholesale" one from China and only got ONE complete e-cig out of the deal, so not really wholesale at all anyway, and I'd imagine shipping is going to be a bit more, but maybe not ??

Anyway, I hope it works out with the company you chose, and if not, here's another option. :)

Good Luck!!
