getting rid of alcohol under/after-taste?

I vape a lot of different juices, there's something like 150+ bottles of assorted stuff I've tried in the last year, banging around in a fridge I use to store nic or just sitting in drawers. I have 4 or 5 brands that I use in continual rotation, and maybe another 20 that I use on a regular basis (let's say at least twice a month).

After hearing a lot of extremely positive raves about Virgin Vapors and in particular Kona, I tried it out. And... lemme ask a question here... whenever I take a hit, I get some of the flavor, but it's almost totally buried in this under-taste that's like smoking rubbing alcohol. I understand alcohol is used to disperse the thicker VG juices, and VV is exactly the same in this regard, as some other high or pure VG juices that I've tried. Unfortunately, for me at least, this makes it un-vapable; I just can't ever get past the alochol under/after-taste and enjoy the vape, and then I give up on it.

VV isn't the only vendor I have this problem with, there are many very positive reviews about COV's organic juices, and I personally find them un-vapable for exactly the same reason. While at the same time, some pure VGs like Boba's Bounty, do not have the rubbing alcohol taste present at all.

Is there anything I can do to get rid of this? Is it just me and nobody else can taste this/doesn't care? I'm just curious, because there seem to be a small collection of highly-rated juices, that all fall into the same category (to reiterate, high or pure VG, with rubbing alcohol saturated taste), and obviously a lot of people seem to think they're the shiznit, whereas I personally just can't stand them.

So... just give up and move on, or is there something else I can do/try to get rid of this?

Thanks for any insights.

Never come across this at all. What device/setup are you using? I am assuming you have tried the basics such as a good shake and steeping? If I remember correctly Annette does a line with no alcohol in it at all. Maybe sample one of them and see if this taste remains.

Maybe the taste is there but I can't distinguish it. When I drink alcohol its usually in beverages with flavors mixed in. I know the smell but everything else is tainted.

Hmmmm, okay, letting 'em all steep for a while and seeing what happens. Steep for me btw means, I just let it sit on a shelf and get back to it in a few weeks, did you also open the bottle and allow air into the mix, or was it not necessary? Tnx 6spdsurfer!

Swer3397: I use Super T Precise, and GGs, which all amounts to the same thing -> 3.7v purely mechanical mods with big batts, or if Kicked, I vape at around 7.5-8w; I use Boge 2.0Ω LR & often Smoktech 1.7Ω single-coil Resurrectors because they do well with the high/pure VG mixes, always in tanks. On ProVari I use mostly Boge 3.0Ω cartos, also in tanks. Haven't really made the commitment yet to playing around with rebuildables, I have a GG Ody & Penelope, but mostly they just sit on a shelf ATM.

Anyhoo, I've tried VV's on Boge 2.0Ω, 3.0Ω and Smoktech 1.7Ω, different volts/watts, and while there are always subtle changes in flavor, the alcohol undertaste is always present no matter what carto/vv/vw I'm at.

Thanks.

That's pretty much what I did. I wanted to like it a lot, but it was just giving me such a harsh flavor. Like I was vaping straight vodka. But after a tank or two (while switching between other flavors, so about a month or so) it was much better. It hit literally right in the middle of a tank and now I go back and it's as smooth as it could be. Exactly what I was expecting. Strangely for this juice I feel like I had to let it sit much long. As for the top on or off, I'd say it was a mixture. I have white-ish carpets and my gf is a neat freak, so I'm deathly afraid of it spilling, so I'd let it sit with the top semi-on only while I'm in true vape mode for an hour or two a day. I have a bunch of different tanks, Nova 2.0s, Ody drip mode, Penny, Bellas, but I tend to always vape it in the Novas. Mutes the off flavor a little, but since the flavoring in it is so strong, it works out pretty well. Let us know in a couple weeks if it mellows out for you too!

Also, the alcohol taste shouldn't be due to the PG/VG ratio, but rather if the mixer uses alcohol in the mix. I know some of the makers use it to dilute or add throat hit, so it might be that. As the juice steeps the flavor takes over and you end up losing the alcohol flavors. As much as it sucks, just give it some time...

Yes, steeping with the cap off will help any alcohol in the flavor base to evaporate, and help eliminate that taste. Almost all organic flavorings in the industry are extracted in an ethyl alcohol base; so I think it's an organic thing versus a PG/VG thing. Most people do not detect its presence by either scent or taste, but a few do. The uncapped steeping method is what we recommend to help alleviate it for the "super smellers/tasters" who detect it. Most people report that this method is effective for them. Our Absolute Virgin line is unique in that its organic flavoring extracts are derived in a special extraction process that does not use any alcohol at all, so you might want to give it a try next time. But please do report back as to how the uncapped steeping works for you! :)

Absolutely awesome flavors kitty! Only downside is waiting, especially for people who are impatient like me! EcoPure line FTW!

Thanks! Annette is an awesome flavor mixer. Science + art = awesome sauce :) First time I ever tasted her flavors, I knew I was done. I still try a new flavor every now and then from other vendors but most of them end up in my big Suicide Juice jar that I'm saving for the zombie apocalypse.

But seriously, back on thread subject..
The Absolute Virgin line are alcohol free and to me don't have any after/under taste fresh from the mail. I haven't let any of them steep for long because I love them they way they come. They've also been 100% VG and not thick at all so I don't know how Annette does it. I do notice though that higher nic (18 vs 12) changes the flavour some.

I think it's distilled water in that line only as a thinner. I use all VG too and they are very thin.
