Hey Everyone! I am new to the vaping idea but I am really interested in starting. I have done it multiple times with my friends and thought it was really fun to do socially. My only questions is what I should get to start off on. My friend has the v8 smok stick and I liked that but is there anything better? Also just wondering if 3mg nic would be ok to start on. Lastly, I'm just curious about how much e-juice I would go through in a day if I were to constantly use it during the day. Anything helps!
Thanks,
Jay

Are you a smoker or former tobacco user having trouble putting it away? Purists on this forum will question whether a non-smoker should take up a potential habit-forming behavior (vaping) that involves a tobacco product (nicotine).

Not to be rude, but I believe you should really question the wisdom of vaping "recreationally".

3 mg nicotine in the e-liquid is not that much, but with a sub-ohm vaping device (like the V8 smok stick and tank) that is equivalent to 6 mg nicotine.

Is there anything better? There is almost always something else that someone will say is better. Everyone has there own preferences. I know myself, I would want a regulated (mod with a regulating chip) that would allow me to adjust the wattage higher or lower to my personal preference. I'm not a fan of USB battery charging or non-removable internal batteries. From what I can tell the V8 Smok Stick is just a non-regulated mod with some safety features:

There are "better" and "worse" things depending on who you ask. If you use a Smok product you will probably be sub0hming, which means even with low nicotine you will be getting more vapor per puff. If you enjoyed your friend's setup there's no reason not to purchase one. If you aren't a smoker I wouldn't recommend ANY nicotine, even if you vape (why would you need it?) which even vaping 0 nicotine, we are talking harm reduction as vape has not been around long enough to know much longterm data though for the most part, early research has shown that vaping is much better than smoking.

I'd recommend reading some of the pinned threads in the new member information forum, which is a subforum of this one (you will see it ABOVE the posts here... just click on it). Lots to get you started with if you want to learn more about vaping....

Good luck, welcome to ECF.

I was never a smoker. With vaping, I love the idea of different tastes and I think that would be why I would start. Would 0 nic be better for that?

0 nic would be much better than that. If you don't have a nicotine habit, no need to start one. Most e-juice vendors will sell 0 nic juice, so you can still enjoy the flavors. Nicotine is less harmful than everything in cigarettes, but it does carry some mild cardiovascular risks that really, there's no need to expose yourself to them if you aren't a habitual nicotine user.

I will suggest that the healthiest thing of all would be to not start, but if you must, please use 0 nic, nic really won't affect the flavoring or inhaling sensation at all. If you like your friend's setup, I'd suggest perhaps purchasing on of those, although you can always go to a Brick and Mortar vape store and take a look at what's out there and what appeals to you.

Best of luck,

Anna

For me, I’d never start using nicotine if I wasn’t already addicted. You’re body isn’t craving it (yet). Please try to stick to 0mg nic juice, it’s just not worth it to become addicted to it if you’re not in the first place.
That being said, I understand the interest in wanting to try a whole new world of flavors.
Just my opinion though. Good luck!

If you do decide to start vaping, then yes 0 nic would be wiser.

My 18 y/o daughter was a nonsmoker. She wanted to start vaping 0 nic recreationally for the flavors. All of her close buddies were smokers and when they were just "hanging out" they would smoke around her. She was feeling some peer pressure to start smoking to fit in with her crowd.

Although I was reluctant for her to begin vaping, I reasoned that vaping 0 nic would be safer than for her possibly start smoking because of peer pressure. She did get a vaping setup and vaped recreationally with her friends and when she was studying. She did eventually start using 0.3 - 0.6 mg nic and said she liked the stimulation it provided her much like caffeine did and helped her concentrate.

Thankfully, she rarely vapes 4 years later. However due to her influence, her long time boyfriend who was a smoker is now strictly a vaper. My son, who was a smoker, is also now a regular vaper because of his sister. I had tried for over a year for him to try vaping; even gave him a nice setup to try. Funny how he eventually listened to her and not his father. :?:

Welcome and glad you joined.
Social vaping infrequently at zero nic is OK in my book. Nicotine can be additive in some form another to some folks, so I do not recommend anything which can cause a physical/mental dependency.

O nic.
I honestly am not sure how I feel about someone who hasn't smoked vaping. Being addicted to nic sucks sometimes even though vaping is 1000 times better. Just wonder...

Anyway, if you're a big boy than it's your choice. Just start with 0.

Vape whatever you want or like. I can only assume you are an adult since you are in this forum. So as an adult, you can choose to do what you like. If you vape 0 and like it... run with it. If you like the nicotine, then go with that. Everyone here will give you their 2 cents, but it is what you like that we all want here and no one will and should judge you for that.
