Getting through a night at the bar...

So, in my experience so far... When I drink, and especially if I'm drinking at a bar... I'm good at first just taking a vape here and there... but I seriously just want a cigarette.

Is it just a matter of substituting and re-training myself to crave a vape when I drink rather than a smoke... or is this just something that I have to live with? I bummed a smoke tonight and it was the greatest cigarette ever.

Right now I'm in a position where I don't smoke during the day and I don't smoke when I'm at home... I've successfully eliminated my smoking habit - instead of buying a $6.50 pack of American Spirits every day, I vape as needed throughout the day. Take a hit, maybe two, set it aside, and live like a normal person the rest of the time. Craving for a smoke? I take a poof and move on. It has eliminated my need to smoke while driving, it has eliminated my need to smoke throughout the day... but once I start drinking, all I want is a burning cigarette to inhale into my lungs. My nicotine intake is down substantially... a few hits from the vaporizer vs. a pack of cigarettes a day, I'm at less nicotine and definitely happy with where that is.

But, seriously as soon as I start to drink, I want a cigarette. Should I just live with this, and be a drunk cigarette smoker and a daytime vaper? Saves me money either way, and seems like the risk of cancering myself to death is significantly lower... but are there people on here that just don't smoke, even when drinking? Does anybody find their vaporizer to actually be an acceptable replacement while drinking?

Right now I'm okay with bumming a smoke at the bar when I'm out - but I'd like to not have that urge. Is this something you defeat with time, or should I just smoke when I'm out and be glad that I've cut it out of the rest of my life...

You might want to try putting aside your favorite tobacco juice and save it for bar time only, maybe even use one step up in the nicotine level. Having something special you love to vape might more easily replace the psychological association between drinking at a bar and smoking with vaping a favorite juice instead.

Like you said it's all about re-training yourself to crave for something different. My training only took a week or so. Figured I stood no chance sticking to vaping once intoxicated out in a bar... So, for a week, I started drinking at home. Just a couple more bottles or shots - of course not to the point of being sick. A little over a week I went to bar with friends. Boy, the cigarette stench almost made me turn around. Definitely not because i wanted one, but because it was so repulsive I couldn't stand the smell. Nevertheless, found myself inside vaping away while drinking. Didn't once craved for cigarette. I use to smoke a pack + a day. Smoked for 21 years. Gave it up just like that for vaping. Just make sure you got yourself a good flavor to go with whatever you're drinking and it'll be easy. Goodluck!

Over time you should come to prefer vaping to smoking even when you're drinking.

But there are a number of tips that might help...
--Get a setup that is free from hassle
--Try using strong tobacco flavors
--Try using a higher nicotine strength
--Try cranking up the wattage

I reached the point a long time ago where I preferred vaping to smoking when I am drinking.
At first I was using tobacco flavors to help with that, but over time even that didn't matter anymore.

You just need to make sure you're prepared for a night out. Make sure you have at least 2 fully charged batteries with you, maybe even a PCC charging case. Get a little carrying case for some extra liquid and tanks/cartos whatever you use. I always bring at least two different flavors out with me in case I get bored with the one I'm using. It also couldn't hurt to get some high potency stuff 36mg or so just for when you go out. When I get drunk I find myself vaping almost constantly. I go outside with my smoking friends and just puff on it, most of the time we end up passing it around to everyone. Also make sure you have the right set up. Try a few different voltages/ohms combinations until you find something that really hits the spot for you. I was a pack a day smoker for over 10 years before I switched to vaping, and I've only had one cigarette since then, and that happened when I very first started, and I ran out of cartomizers at the bar. The next morning I ordered 2 DCT's and a Vivi Nova, and haven't had that problem again.
