I worked for a B&M and they made me tell customers 1ml of juice = 1 pack of cigarettes. It was easier than explaining the complexities of variables like absorption of vapor, particle density etc....and better than saying "there is no way to know" It was usually the first question noobs ask because of the marketing from blu and njoy saying 1 disposable = 1 pack or whatever. There is no comparison, because its apples to oranges. Its like asking "how much gas in a car are you burning if you ride your bike instead?"

12 ml of juice seems a bit much! That would be like never letting your mod go , or better yet,, it never leaves your lips . LOL

.....i burn through a good 6-10 ml a day, it depends on your rig and how often you vape, on my off days i can easily go through 10+ ml of juice on an RBA running around 25 watts or so

1ml = 1 pack of smokes! I wish! :blink:

That just adds to the false advertising most e-cig vendors are spinning and I think it only hurts the industry...

actually, this is very close to true for a *NEW* vaper on a crap mini.

when you start getting a real device, with a real delivery option, the figures begin to vary a lot, especially when you get into RBAs, etc.

You're spreading misinformation then.

So I went to my local vape shop and asked a bunch of questions. To my surprise, they could not answer one of my questions that I thought was very basic. How many cigarettes am I actually smoking when I vape?

Before I started vaping, I cut down my smoking to about half a pack a day (outside of weekends, when I'm drinking heavily). Now, I vape throughout the whole day, and I don't really know how many cigarettes it's actually equivalent to. I could be smoking a pack a day now (in terms of nicotine intake)! I have e-liquids in 6mg and 12mg in several flavors. The bottles that I have range from 10ml to 50ml. Is there a certain formula to know how many cigarettes I'm smoking per ml?

The e-liquids are so dang delicious that I can really go overboard with this stuff

I had a hard time when I wanted to figure out the conversion. It all depends on the strength and frequency of your vaping. At first I realized that I was getting more nicotine than when I was smoking. I cut back the MG of nicotine that I was using and felt better.

Which B&M in FL? I want to make sure I don't support them. Misinformation should not be spread because it's easier than giving a true answer and I will not support those that give BS answers to valid questions. I feel that education is very important when starting down this road.

Basically it's impossible to determine to any specific degree there is not e=mc hammer type equation that we can use.

I usually just vapid what I felt like, You get signs of when to stop. As mentioned by other smokers. You will probably vape more then you smoked there are a lot of other chemicals that contribute to addiction and how nicotine is hitting our system. But you will find your own balance.

Don't worry about doing it right or following a specific plan, just do what feels right and you should be fine.

If you do lower your nicotine, dont be in a rush either. I made that mistake the second time I started vaping and was back on analogs 6 months after getting to 0mg nicotine. I went from 36mg to 0mg in 6months time. Was just too fast for me.

Im taking it slower this time, dropping 6mg every 4-5 months.

Thanks for that advice Zapped. When I first started vaping, everyone kept asking me (all non-smokers of course lol) how fast I would get to 0 nic so I went from 18mg to 6mg in a little over 2 months. I then went through 2 weeks of h**l fighting off the desire for stinkies so I went back to 12mg juice. I haven't told anyone I went back up in nic because I felt a little like I failed in some way. Here I am at 4 months and I've felt stressed every time I place a juice order because I thought I had to drop in nic level faster and I've worried about the desire for analogs coming back if I do. It's nice to know from someone who's been through it that it's ok to take the time to drop your level and probably beneficial to do so. :)

Only when I jam my pro-tank on to my front teeth - hurts like a son of a gun.

Sorry not to be flippant, but the short answer is more research is needed. I just know I feel it does me a lot less harm than cigarettes did.

No doubt on the front teeth issue, I have a few tips stainless and plastic. The first time I tapped a front tooth with the metal one was the last time it was used! I love the look of glass ones, but....OUCH.

0 cigarettes.

I should add that the guilt youre experiencing is a leftover from when you were smoking analogs and is no longer needed.Seriously....you made a great decision so lighten up on yourself and enjoy.

I go through 12ml of liquid a day on average and the only reason I know that is because my tanks hold 6ml, not like Im counting or anything any more.:toast:

haha agreed. i vape on average 7mL a day. because my tank holds 3.5mL. I am actually thinking about getting a bigger tank

I'm new to this forum. I also had a question about absorption, nic rates, etc. and did find the answers here at ECF. While the research is not yet complete or conclusive on this subject, the general working hypothesis is about a 50% absorption rate. That is the best estimate the experts can tell us at this time, though more studies are needed. I just read about this a day or two ago here in ECF, and can't put my finger on the article this moment, but it's here, it's very informative, and, as usual, the information is documented by several trusted studies. That being said, again, the experts are quick to point out that the conclusions are premature and require more studies.

For me, my body knows how much nicotine it craves and when it is satisfied. If you are not being satisfied, just up the nic level in the juice until you are. With certainty, the nicotine your body is absorbing is not a straight calculation, i.e., a pack of lights is 12 mg of nicotine but this is NOT equivalent to vaping a ml of 12 mg/ml e-liquid, though that it what I erroneously thought at first. Personally, I think the 50% absorption may be high. Regardless, my body knows when I've had enough, or not enough, and that is the only equivalency that really matters to me. The right amount is the amount that allows me to be analog free and satisfied with my vaping experience...forget any conversions...as we simply don't know the facts about them yet.

Nicotine is in our food chain, in cruciferous vegetables like broccoli, in spinach, etc. Everyone has nicotine in their bodies, because it's in many of our common, every day foods, and at moderate levels is not harmful to humans, and may even be helpful. The level that satisfies me, is probably pretty close to what I used before vaping, or so the experts say...is free of the more than 4,000 chemicals in analogs, with more than 100 of them known carcinogens. I've recently YouTubed many naturopathic doctors recommending e-cigs to replace analogs, without reservation. The information is out there. These same doctors say that no one has ever died of nicotine use (in this context, and excluding tobacco use) and that it's no more harmful than a cup of coffee. No one has ever proved otherwise. We would have definitely heard about that.

There is one more thing I would like to say on this topic.
When I was smoking, I was OD'ing on a daily basis. I get up around 8 in the morning, go to work at 1, many nights working until midnight.
Literally running on caffeine and nicotine.
The last 2-3 has I would have serious headaches when smoking. After a couple minutes the pain subsides and light up another one. One drag and the pain returns instantly (nausea as well but only the feeling). Repeat...Repeat....Repeat

Now that I am vaping I noticed just this. I am vaping 24mg, about 6ml daily. I have ZERO of the symptoms/cravings for a cig. I am for the most part chain vaping constantly. (Explains why no cravings LOL)

I have yet to experience any Nic OD symptoms from vaping.

Surprisingly, I just realized that today, while talking with a friend who seems to be giving up on vaping.
