You'll find the center post to be very pliable, it takes very little effort, just hold the paper clip at an angle and slow apply downward pressure while holding the battery, this will cause the end in the hole to rise lifting up the center post, once you see the center post rise, then repeat it on the other side.

Hope this helps, can't really hurt!

For me, the computer is not the problem. It's a new desktop and I've been using a passthru with it for months.

Some of the passthru's just break too easily. I'm waiting for the technology to catch up to the demand for a higher-quality piece of equipment. This is not just a V4L problem - I see complaints from many people on the general board about crappy quality P/T's.

- USB voltage is regulated.

- Don't equate current with voltage.

- USB is, on any modern motherboard, protected by a polyswitch : PolySwitch Surface-mount - Tyco Electronics and isn't going to destroy anything with even a short-circuit.

- In a metal like the Nichrome wire used in the cartomizers, current draw goes DOWN as temperature goes up. The relationship of conductivity versus temperature is generally expressed as a slope of: σΤ' = σΤ / (1 + α[T-T']) {conductivity is the reciprocal of resistivity, so don't get bitten by that if you plot the graph. :) )

- If it don't work, send it back. ;)

oh boy - I just fainted. By the way, do you know the oxidation number of any given mono-atomic ion? Rumor has it, that it is equal to it's own charge, tho some beg to differ.

Chemistry was something to be survived, not enjoyed. :p It's been decades since I've even thought about a Lewis Structure. Thanks a lot for taking me back there...

Not. :p

I was just thinking the other day as I was brewing-up another batch of experimental rocket fuel with my sugar and two other common components that shall remain unnamed, and thinking "man... I'm exactly the WRONG person to be doin' this".

The bunker suit is quite fashionable though! ;)

Nothing cures a pyro sweet tooth like a little R Candy. Lots of variations, but you only really need 2 commonly found ingredients. We used to take model rockets, make a few mods, and send them up to heavens. You outta give it a whirl Jam, its easy and good fun!

I was really big into rockets growing up; one of my older brothers made his own designs and liquid rocket fuel. After we destroyed most of our rockets and were desperate, we simply glued fins onto solid D engines and played chicken. Lots of stories of homemade fireworks and pyro projects in my family, roman candle fights were the best - proud to say I still have all of my appendages and eyesight!
