Has anyone tried removing the spring and cutting the neg post down a little to make the CCTS shorter? And would this give better contact with the battery?

You would only gain 1/4" max and do it shouldn't change conductivity.

Better contact would come from sanding the center post and switch end post as well as the top contact and spring facing.

Well I already sanded all of those lol. I also ran a wire wheel on my dremel on the threads of the tube. I was just thinking this would be better as I have seen a lot of people say devices without springs are better. If it's on the internet, it's gotta be true. That was a state farm commercial reference lol.

I've done a light sanding on the spring post and tried to sand the finish off of the end of the switch post and the bottom of the top atty connector. It now seems a bit less finicky. I used some worn out sandpaper so it didn't score too deeply. Seems to work even better than it did new. I don't have the hot switch problem anymore anyway.

When I first got it, I would use it for a little while each day - now it's almost always in use but... (anyone have a defective aga-t or better yet, a Dream BT804 they'd like to get rid of ;-) ).

It's almost mid march and I haven't been able to afford to buy a single thing this entire year. Sometimes life really sucks (pitiful rant over thank god).

Glad your tweaks worked out. I sanded both of mine yesterday and immediately noticed much better conduction. Probably a 200-300% increase in output stability and much faster coil heat up. Sweet!!!
Will do the same on the next 2 when they arrive. Haven't tried an AGA-T on one yet as these are set up in 18350 form and batteries would die to quickly.

What parts did you sand and what grit sandpaper did you use?

I just got my two toned chi chi and its performing quite a bit better than my single tone I got a month ago. The spring weld is far better. Im getting .23 higher loaded volts with same battery and atty. Considerable performance difference.
