I just got my two toned chi chi and its performing quite a bit better than my single tone I got a month ago. The spring weld is far better. Im getting .23 higher loaded volts with same battery and atty. Considerable performance difference.

I wonder if someone could help me figure something out.

I have a Rainbow V.3 atty. It's basically a chrome Phoenix rba with screws on the
sides of the posts instead of on top.

Tonight, I made a new coil for it with a silica wick. The wire is 28awg. I made one
for it a few days ago and it was great. Tonight, there seems to be a problem and
I don't want to play with it before getting a better idea of what might be happening.

I heated the wire a few times to make it more pliable and so it fires faster. I wrapped
it and it checked out to be 1 ohm with no shorts. I did that on a Vamo without firing
it. It's been real good about detecting shorts and seems to be accurate on the
resistance when compare to other devices.

So I strapped the atty on the GG clone. When I fired, I thought I felt pressure from
inside, like it was swelling up or something. I thought it might be my imagination. I
made sure everything was tight and all, and fired it again holding it away from my
face and body. The firing button got real hot pretty fast.

I double checked some things again, including making sure the batt was inserted
correctly. It was, and all else checked out.

Here was the only thing that was different:

I had just put Noalox on the threads of the mech mod, including the threads inside
the top cap and the post that hits the battery. Some of the Noalox may have got
on the top of the battery (Panny IMR) because of that. I also put Noalox on the
threads of the atty.

I have never read of that being a problem, but I can't think of anything else.

Each end of the coil is slightly resting on the top of each post in the atty. It came
this way, and because I need room for the 28 awg, I did it that way. I've done it
before with no problem. Could that be it, and if so, why now and not before?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Has anyone posted pics of their chi chi sanded from chrome back to brass outer?

If you woulda looked through the thread, yea a few people have. :vapor:

I'm actually thinking about sand blasting mine and then maybe polishing now lol.

Sure its not as nice as a GG but for 1/8th the price its a cool toy to play with.
