New to vaping, started on Feb 1, 2014 so I don't have nearly the time or investment (that's what I tell my wife) in equipment, juice and improved quality of life that some of you folks have..... yet.

The FDA just came out with their findings and Kristin (CASAA Vice President for the rest of the Noobs like me) has given us guidance, she wants us to be focused and unified. People are shooting off in many different directions even though we are being asked to wait.

I thought, hell I want to do something. What to do?

I just joined CASAA and made a $20 donation. Why not, most of us spend that much on juice or equipment in a week(but not cotton, that lasts forever).

There are 197,000 members here, 20,000 active. You want to help, do the same thing as I did and join, pop $20 for the legal battle. If just half do something along these lines we will be unified and strong. If just half the membership did the same.....just think of the resources we could give to a group fighting for our best interests.

Join the mailinglist, get feedback on our course and become one hell of a strong voice. For those of you that are part of their membership, thanks for covering the rest of us!

That's it, don't just talk about it:

Become a CASAA Member

The soap box is back in the closet, now back to your regularly scheduled vaping!

I couldn't agree more, here is CASAAs initial statement after the announcement

CASAA: CASAA Assessment of FDA Deeming Regulation, April 25, 2014

And an excerpt from it

On its face, it appears that it is not as bad for consumers as it might have been, but there are still serious concerns. The FDA approval process is very complicated, and the details matter. Unlike some commentators, we are not prepared to say much more until we have a chance to examine them and consider them in the context of existing institutions.
It's important to remember that the recently published rules are only proposed rules at this time. The next step for the FDA will be to open a docket for public comments, which will last for 75 days. After analyzing the 240-page document, CASAA will issue a Call to Action for its members detailing any consumer concerns, instructions for submitting public comments and possible talking points.

Make sure to watch for their calls to action, we really need to be a unified front. Thanks for breaking out the soapbox!

Great post...

I've been a member of CASAA since I joined ECF and found out about them, and I made my first donation to them earlier this morning.
Figured as much as I spend on liquids and toys, I should really be giving some of my money to someone who is trying to make sure I can still make my purchases tomorrow.

Will be watching for their calls to action.

I am subscribed for automatic donations of 5$ per month, and will definitely be allocating additional funds when possible.

Thanks for posting this! I feel that it is quite important, and deeply valuable, to constantly remind ourselves and each other of our power, and how much we can do without really even feeling much/any burden. Of course, we can always dig deeper too.

I think that there is a tendency to forget that "voting with your dollar" is a real thing, and not just a matter of speech. Especially when we are dealing in a dollar-ocracy. I've had my soapbox out also, in hopes that a few fellow friends would hear me over all of the shouting.

I think this is an excellent idea. If each of the 20,000 active ECF members donated $5.00 a month, that would be $100,000 which is not nearly what the Big Pharm companies are putting into the fight to have vaping eliminated. I really think all of us who can afford to vape (especially considering how much we are saving compared to smoking), could donate $5.00 a month. I also make a small monthly donation.

Since only a small percentage of the 20,000 active ECF members are even just members of CASAA, let's hope everyone finally understands there is a real threat to this life saving invention and now is the time to join and support CASAA.

I sent CASAA $100 Saturday. Please someone, if you can afford it, better that and post. Then someone better that. Money to fund publicized battles is the only thing that matters in the dollarocracy we in the US are governed by.

Financially not able to donate that much (extremely tight fixed income) but I did send CASAA my entire May vape budget of $50.

I agree, this FDA approval process is too undefined, everything else I can live with (e.g. Ban sale to -18, list ingredients, warning labels, no advertising reaching out to youth). However, I am seeing a hidden agenda in terms of the FDA approval process and treating vaping as tobacco in that process. Based on the FDA's past actions, they have to make an asserted effort to ensure the vaping community of their agenda, this has not been done. I see lawsuits in our future and CASAA is going to need our resources.o
