I've donated much more than $40 many times over the years, but never got a shirt.
:(

They should send me one, just because!
Ah, screw it, I'll just donate again.
:)

So how exactly do you take advantage of the offer to receive a shirt?
I'm not seeing it as I try to donate.

To get the t-shirts, go to the CASAA store at theCASAAstore

You'll see a note on each t-shirt page that says:
NOTE: If you've made a dontion of $40 or more in the past and
would like a t-shirt, just email us at tshirt@casaa.org with the
following information and we'll send you a t-shirt!
Please include ALL information below or we cannot send you a shirt:
Method of donation (ie. PayPal, check or money order, Dwolla)
Date of Donation
Name on donaton
Which t-shirt (include size) you want sent
Name and address for shipping

As for today I see CASAA is a profit-driven society. It has its own “researchers”. It does not give a damn for a health of vapers, it just wants to have a profit for sellers. BT for anywone?
Sorry guys, I’d better stockpile for vapergeddon than became part of this society.
That is probably the worst post I've ever seen on this forum.
You clearly don't know anything at all about CASAA.

Is there any information online that shows the financiasl specifics of CASAA?

How much money is raised?
How the money is spent?
How many employees, in what capacities, and at what salaries?
How much money is spent on activities that help members vs. promotion of CASSA and increasing membership?

Also, according to "About CASSA", board members are appointed. Why not elected?

Having been involved in 501(c) organizations before, due diligence seems more appropriate than blind trust.

I would imagine if you sent an email to board@casaa.org they could provide that information.
They said from the start that they intended to be fully up-front with financial information.

I myself have never looked into it, because I trust them implicitly, given that THEY are really US.
And because I knew most of them from this forum before they were elected.

How many employees, in what capacities, and at what salaries?
At least this I can answer...

They have no "employees" and nobody in the entire organization gets any "salary" for their efforts.

Again, they are us.
They were made from us here on this very forum.

We elected the original board of directors through elections held here.
As to why further board members are appointed as opposed to elected I will have to defer to them on that one.

I don't really know that they spend ANY money on promotion of CASAA or increasing membership.
If they do, I certainly have not seen it, although many of us probably wish they would.

I guess if you count setting up a booth at a popular Electronic Cigarette convention, then yeah.
They have done that a number of times.

You seem to think they are some large non-profit organization.
They aren't. They are just us, trying to do as much as we can to win this thing.

Not at all. I am just very careful who I give money to and what their motives are.

I was involved in 501(c) organization a few years ago and was eventually appointed to the board.

I was shocked to learn that despite a very compelling mission statement, 95% of their activities were involved in raising money to keep themselves afloat. Board members did convincing media interviews and the organization sent out member alerts and newsletters, but there was no tangible work or progress to show.

Like I said. Just doing due diligence.

Thanks for the reply.

Wonner, I don't blame you. I've seen it, but only from the outside. If you want to see the quality of work that CASAA does, go to this link CASAA: CASAA Submits Comment to FDA on Behalf of Consumers Regarding FDA Proposed Deeming Regulation and then the link at the bottom of the page. Long document but try a couple pages. It's highly entertaining, filled with facts and for the bonus points completely dismantles the FDA's argument for what the want to do.

Now I have a little reading to do this evening.

They also used to do webinars every other week. It then went to once a month..... haven't had one in a very long time. I wish they would start them up again. They would go through the financials and goals and what has been happening in the fight on the state level.

We probably won't. It was a lot of work for the volunteers and took a lot of time for only 35 -50 people showing up (usually the same people and usually the former number) and the meeting software, while less expensive than others we looked at, was still expensive.

Instead, we are looking into doing podcasts or videos in the future, better utilizing our YouTube channel.
