Okay, so a friend of mine throws me a fried DNA30 clone today. Said it just started smoking and it's pretty fried from the display melted to the chipset inside. It must have gotten very hot. I have half a mind that he stuck the battery in backwards but who knows. So he said to keep it for parts it's his gift to me. Well I'm the guy who everybody brings their stuff to repair to and am pretty handy but never been inside a box mod. It's a mess in there and the amount of hot glue in it is crazy. So here is my question, do I just gut this thing and use the box or is it worth trying to carefully get the hot glue off of everything and see what was actually ruined. I am attaching some pics for the experts here to see. Any advice would be awesome. I would really like to repair and keep or build in the enclosure. Your thoughts????

Forgot the 510 connector you can save that too just unsolder it throw all that mesh of wire glue and whatever is left of the chip and usb port out, get a DNA 30 with the USB connector that comes with it. Then just follow the instructions and you'll have a much better PV than the original owner ever did.

Jesus, gotta wonder what the hell he did with this mod.

I had this exact issue with my Cana Modz clone. I had been using it for maybe two months with no issues or abuse whatsoever. I was driving down the highway when the screen started reading "Too Hot" and the battery started venting. I threw it out, and it's the reason I now own a Provari.

Hopfully you didn't throw it out the window! lol

Haha, no. I nearly did out of reflex, but I held it out the window and let it vent. I had a VTC5 in there, so I wasn't *overly* concerned with it venting violently or exploding, but I was very cautious.

I brought it back home, but wound up tossing the mod and the battery just to be safe.
