Issue with Cloupor Hana clone

Hello fellow vapors, I have been lurking the forums for a while but I have never posted :p
Recently, I sold a buddy of mine a black DNA30 clone that I purchased from a vendor called WetVapes.
After I used the mod for about 3 weeks everything was perfect, no issues and I sold it to him.
He just called me to tell me that he had an iClear 30S on it because it was the only tank he had and he ran out of kanthal while building 2 new coils for his Helios RDA.
ANYWAYS he tried to fire the iClear 30S at 7 watts, and the mod said it was too hot and it started smoking! Immediately he pulled out his battery after removing the back panel (SONY VTC4 30 AMP CONTINUOUS). The screen was cracked, the battery was fine, so it appears that the chip got fried. We have no idea what the cause was so I just wanted to post this so those that have the Cloupor dna 30 (NON UPDATED VERSION) (FIRST-SECOND BATCH) be very careful with these devices.

Here's a picture of the fried mod.

So the only way for that chip to fry from him firing is with the battery in backwards? Well I feel like an idiot. I did tell him that... Let's see what he says when I ask him cause I was going to buy him a new one. But not if he put the battery in the wrong way..
He says the battery was in correctly

I'm pretty sure the battery in backwards would make exactly happen what you said happen too hot reading then chip getting fried. It's not exactly easy to tell if your putting the battery in backwards if you arnt thinking about it I could easily see anyone having a minor brain fart and doing it. This would he the first time we have seen this happen on probably close to 1000 units if not more. Another thing in all honesty your friend probably doesn't even realize he put it in backwards and when he was panicking to get it out I seriously doubt he looked... if I was him I would tell you I didnt put it in backwards either so I didn't feel like a dodo bird lol

I know there are a couple (very few) instances of some owners saying that their board fried and it was not the batteries fault , your explanation is nearly identical to what these posters said . Sounds like he did not mention anything about a battery until the unit started smoking and then he opened it up and took it out.

Did you give it to him with a battery already in it , if you did then he's the one to blame not you. Good luck getting him to admit he put in a battery the wrong way , always tough to do business with friends.

If you have the time one of the hana clone threads has some of these instances happening , good luck finding it though.

Personally i would see if it's covered (don't be advertising a common sense error though, just in case he did put the battery in wrong) and if it's not covered just tell him many are replacing the boards anyway so it's not a major loss.

Mine went funky on me. Definitely not a user error here. The device started to auto increase wattage and the down button stopped working. I sent it back to elevape for replacement.

Someone else commented about the increasing watts issue in one of the other threads , might of been you but that seems to be very uncommon , most issues i have read about are about two clicks and what not , minor quirks .

A smoking board is something else entirely and if it's not user error it should definitely be covered imo, but they very well may be contributed to user error .

The problem is getting the user to admit that they screwed up and i don't think many would admit such a simple error , so now you have people spreading rumors that the board can fry for no apparent reason which is just wrong.

I have an alternate theory.

Do iclears have a flush positive pin?

Some of the first cloupors were fried because their 510 connection has an oversized 510 pin that would short out with attys with flushed positive pins

That may be where i saw those comments , thanks for bringing that up , makes sense and that issue (correct me if i am wrong) have long been resolved.

I have the clouper hana clone from 101 vape. I did not have my battery in backwards i just installed it correctly screwed it in and charged it throughout the night while vaping on it. I was vaping my tobh dripper and when i went to take a hit the unit continuously fired and then read too hot. I paniced and undid the screws checked the battery position and pulled it to make sure it wasnt getting hot. I was greeted with a puff of ozone (yeah something fried) but the screen and everything works but the leads to the 510 dont. It lights up the buttons change the wattage but it says check atty when i hit fire. the dripper fires on everything else i have with no problem. I am emailing 101vape tonight to see if there is anything they can do for me. Worse comes to worse i just buy another dna 30 chip and put it in the clouper mod.

Ok. I CALL BS on battery backwards. This happened to my first cloupor dna30. Now mine happened while using it as a pass thru with the battery in correctly. Said to hot then half of the screen went dark. My local vape shop replaced it and since I avoid using it as pass thru. Oh and it was only 2 days old. VCT4 battery's. Just my opinions. I like the mod a lot. I run a Russian 91% at .9 ohms from anywhere at 7-19 watts. No issues.

I honestly dont even think having the battery in backwards did it. I've heard of this happening with A LOT of the cloupor canas from people That absolutely know what they are doing and triple check which way their battery goes in. I think it's just a cheap poorly designed chip honestly. But hey, thats what you get making a gamble on a 250$ device for 70-100$
