This is going to be a very contrcontroversial thread but pleas keep it respectful.

My wife is a non smoker but she does have a destdestructive habit of binge eating either out of bordome or stress. This is something she has struggled with for a long time and today I suggested trying a pv without nicotine. She is open to the idea but sceptical. I told her she could try one of mine so if it doesn't work out there is no loss. I am planing to give her a zna 50 I don't use but the issue is what to put on top. I have a substantial collection of rdas and a kayfun 4, I'm leaning towards the kayfun for the convenience but either way I'm concerned about giving her something so advanced right off the bat. Since I'll be handling most of the maintenance, would this be ok or should I look around? I'd hate to buy something new when I've got so much collecting dust. The other issue is TH is there anyway to get it with 0 nic, for this purpose does it even matter? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I'm with Roxy. If you're going to build and wick the k4, there's nothing overly advanced for her to worry about. Help her find the correct setting for *her* preference and have at it.

Side note - if she wasn't a smoker, is there really need for TH?

I was quite afraid when I first quit smoking that I was going to "over-snack", but when I had a whole restaurant full of flavors, I didn't have that issue. I have found vaping satisfies my "hand-to-mouth" "addiction" as well as providing me with a less detrimental nicotine delivery system....

Good luck :)

If you're going to maintain it, give her the k4. You can get colored tanks and bell tanks on Fasttech. Maybe she would like purple?

I have an e juice for you, too. I just got some Charlie Noble Good Cookie. Tastes like a gooey fresh baked chocolate chip cookie.
Definitely fill with 0 nic that way she doesn't get that bite that alot of first timers dislike. That sounds delish lol I also vote for the kayfun as well seeing how you will perform the work for her. No reason to buy more things if you have items currently not in use or wasn't planning on using. Now if I could get my wife off of cigs because I too have things that could be put to good use for her as well. Anyhow good luck with it and I hope she enjoys it !!!

The Kanger Aerotanks are a great compromise between an rba and a plain ol' clearomizer. If you maintain the rba, your wife is all set, but she can be self sufficient with the Kanger. Simply unscrewing it and replacing the coil cartridge thing is sooo easy. Maybe both...that way she doesn't have to rely on you to "fix" her atty. backups ARE a necessity :)

I don't have an eating disorder. I have a digestive disease.

I haven't been able to eat fruit or desserts for almost 8 years. Vaping has had an added bonus for me that I can enjoy the taste of these things again without going through the horrific symptoms I would experience from actually eating them.

So I'm rooting for her :)

I think this is a good idea but keep in mind she has to want to watch her eating too, just like smokers have to want to quit smoking. Good luck to you both! :)
Something that far to many people fail to realize is that compulsive eating is an addiction that hooks harder than cigs. anything I can do to help her is worthwhile, but I do realize the real work is on her.

I know where your coming from. this is why it was so hard for me to quit smoking, the stimulant effects of nicotine speeds up my system enough that I'm not in pain and has the added benafit of allowing me to enjoy the foods I can no longer eat.

This is a tough sell. If she's bored, then this might be a good hobby to introduce and a distraction...but she already knows you invest time in this, and has no interest. Also...let's be honest, vaping is dehydrating. Makes one thirsty, and with thirst comes hunger cues. I don't really think this is a solid recommendation for your wife's 'problem'.

I think your argument is, that when she is bored, she feels hungry. You've suggested she vape something tasty. I mean...<sigh>...

She's bored, right? You are trying to solve boredom, by filling the vacuum of the ancillary solution (food) with something that tastes like food. That's not really addressing anything, right? You need to address the boredom aspect? You kinda don't seem really invested in this beyond you want your wife to eat less while also taking up your own hobby, that she is clearly familiar with and has no interest in.

I know that's harsh, but that's how it reads.

Start her off with the kayfun 4 as your going to be doing the maintaining initially and make sure she knows not to push that zna beyond a certain voltage\wattage. Agree that getting her into the hobby side of vaping may be very beneficial to her in a wider sense. Hope it works out the way you plan and all of us hope let us know how it goes and good luck :).

I've lost weight since I started to vape because my sweet tooth/ and snacking is satisfied. You might consider getting her something simple and easy to use like an iStick 30 or 50 watt. Top with a nautilus Mini or a subtank where she can just swap out the coils and she achieves independence and self reliance when you're not around to "fix" something.

Good luck.

I'm just curious- you're a vaper & she's not had any interest in it so why would you think she'd have an interest now? Has she ever tried any of your stuff?

I think for the issue you're trying to fix, vaping is not going to do the trick. I think you or someone used the word tasty…..{IMO} she's only gonna want to eat cause the vape isn't going to satisfy her hunger.

Boredom is not the underlying issue, it's the trigger, one of several. She has sought counseling and continues with treatment but this is a constant struggle for her. It has nothing to do with hunger, the act of eating is very comforting for her. The idea is with the hand to mouth contact and the activation of flavor receptors she can have an alternative.

I have some of those digestive difficulties too -- IBS, gall-stones, so I can't eat much cholesterol at all or it makes me sick for 3 days -- so no eggs, no beef unless it's like filet mignon or something equally lean, and even low-cholesterol fats -- chocolate, peanut butter -- can play hell if I eat too much. That's one reason I've been enjoying some custard flavors, since eating custard would definitely give me some discomfort and unpleasantness to deal with.

I agree with Dinger about the throat hit -- I don't think non-smokers would even *like* it, nevermind need it. It seems strictly a "smoker" necessity, though not even all smokers want it -- someone around here told me that he said goodbye to TH when he quit smoking -- which would never ever work for me, if there's no TH then I'm just not satisfied. But I think that what we perceive as TH, "tingle," might be quite unpleasant for those who've never smoked.

And I find nothing at all controversial about someone vaping to prevent compulsive eating. It's harm reduction, whether the harm is burning tobacco or sticking unnecessary food in one's mouth. It's not a "Smokers Only" exclusive club or anything. ;)

In my research I saw some other threads on vaping for weight loss/compulsive eating where the op got berated by the community so I was trying to avoid that if possible.

Yes, I've noticed a strong tendency in many vapers to regard vaping as an exclusive club, the entrance fee being a long cigarette addiction. I say, if someone wants to vape, with or without nicotine, for whatEVER reason... VAPE ON!!!!!!
