Giving E-Cigs another try... Got a question on PG/VG ratios and Nic level

Hello,

I tried E-Cigs about two years ago with little success.... Not sure if it was the Nic levels, the equipment I had or just didn't give it enough time (I smoke KOOL Blue about a pack and half a day).... So now I'm trying again...

I purchase some e-juice from MT. Baker Vapes and Ginger's.. I got both these orders in 80PG/20VG with 24mg Nic except with the free sample that came from MT. Baker which was 50/50 and 0 Nic...

I just purchased a Cool Fire IV Plus (with an iSub G Tank) and tried two of juices I got from Ginger's (since it is pre-steeped) and it was harsh even on the lowest wattage (I also put it at 2.5 volts)... Couldn't Vape it without coughing and exhaling through nose burned... Tried some e-juice I know MT. Baker Vapor needs steep time but I wanted to try the 50/50 sample to see if it made a difference...

The 50/50 sample was a little better to Vape (a lil perfume taste, guess because it needs the steep time) ... So do you think it is the PG/VG ratio I went with that is doing that or Is it the Nic levels? Not sure cause the sample was Nic free... or the juice?

Thanks...

I started at 24mg also, but when I got into subohming I had to drop it considerably. And the above post is correct about the harshness of an 80pg mix. I find that 50/50 is the perfect mix for me. Try diluting some of that mix with some vg. Usually, Mt. Baker has plenty of flavor in their juice, so adding some vg to dilute down both the nic and the pg won't kill the flavor, and may help a lot with that harshness.

80% PG is a lot and that's what gives the throat hit and flavor, and along with 24mg. nicotine I'd imagine it was quite the hit. Are you sub ohming? If so then 24mg. may be to much.[/QUOTE

I have the iSub G Tank with 0.5 coils... Yeah I'm thinking it may be the high PG level and want to order a few small bottles of the same flavor with different PG/VG levels to see if that is the problem but before doing was trying to see if anyone else had this problem starting out....

Thanks yeah I think might try a 50/50 blend with a lower nic level... When I tried 2 years ago the Vape shop started me with 18mg not sure what the PG/VG level was and I was using a Ego twist....

If you were using an Ego twist then than you probably were vaping at 1.5 to 1.8 ohms so yeah, cutting down your nic may be a good idea to decrease the harshness. Since your sub ohming now you may do well with 12 or even lower nic. depending on how heavy a smoker you were/are. :)

kinda figured that the ohms change was playing a big part in this... think I will lower the nic and see... I smoke about a pack and half a day Kool Milds (Blue)....

New to this, so If priming the coil is putting a few drops on the coil, I did do that not sure if I let it sit long enough before vaping it.. I let it sit for about 2 minutes before I tried it...

Yep, that's what prime is. Probably too much nic for that tank. You can dilute as suggested above or get yourself a tank that uses a coil with higher resistance (1.5 to 2 ohms).

I smoked KOOL Blues for years, since back when they were "KOOL Lights", and was never tempted to switch to any other analog ...

After 3 years of experimenting with various juices, I'm down to Halo SubZero and Malibu at 24mg ...

But that's in a tiny little Ovale Elips, not in an APV ...

If you try the Halo menthol flavors and like them, you could get them in zero nic and start adding their Fusion unflavored until it hits right ?

Go to Walmart near the pharmacy and find this bottle...6oz glycerin (small bottle, hard to find). Add it 50/50 to your juice which will give you 12mg nicotine and higher vg. You can also get VG at CVS but it's with the beauty supplies.

IMHO 24mg nicotine is high even for a mouth to lung setup.

The isub G tank seems to be made for sub ohm vaping. I would recommend lowering your nicotine content in your juice to about 6mg first to see whether or not you like it.

I was a PAD smoker for 18 years, I vaped the cigalikes in 2013 and clearos in 2014, didn't help. Fastfoward to 2016 I started sub ohming with 6mg juices. After couple weeks I was / am still off cigarettes for about 3 months now.

Go with 6mg or even 3mg for sub ohming.

I second the recommendation of lowering your nic level. The iSub G is a subohm tank, and for the vast majority of users, 24 mg is just way too high for subohming. I was a pack a day smoker and when I started with blu's and then with the Halo Triton using 2.5 ohm coils in their clearomizer, I used 24 mg. My next step down was the Aspire Nautilus with 1.8 ohm coils and I had to drop down to 12-15 mg 50/50 juice because it was too harsh on my throat. When I started subohming, I dropped down to 6 mg and went to higher VG blends. Now that I use drippers and RDTA's where my coils are generally around 0.2-0.3 ohms I use 3 mg and max VG simply because I really don't want the throat hit anymore.

I'd also move down to 6ish for nic in that tank. 50/50 should be fine in regards to ratio and not being too harsh. Keep in mind I find the isub hits way above it's weight class. I get as much vapor on mine at 15w as I do in my kanger subtank at 20+ on the same resistance. And I found no matter what the juice it was harsher in the isub.
