Giving up on RY4!

I know so many of you rave about it, guess it's my tastebuds, but I can't stand it! I've tried 3 suppliers, searching for the elusive tobacco and caramel flavor and all I got was cotton candy, cotton candy, cotton candy! WTH! I taste absolutely NO tobacco or caramel. It was way too sweet and overpowering...actually made me feel a little ill. I guess it's just not for me...don't bother asking for it, it's been thrown away (I know, HOW DARE I...I can see some of you with a look of horror on your face)

Yeah dont feel bad I hated it too. Tastes like burnt cottoncandy

i couldnt get that taste out my mouth for like 3 days..... i still have awful flashbacks

But i did keep mine just in case i ever run outta supply
because as much as I hate RY4 I still hate analogs more

Not sure why you would want to taste the tobacco, but I enjoy RY4. I can taste a little "cotton candy" flavor (it's just sweet...hell, cotton candy tastes like sugar), but I mostly taste a nutty caramel flavor.

I think it's probably just your tastebuds, but everybody does have a vastly different opinion on RY4.

Wow, wish my RY4 would have tasted like cotton candy. Mine was some nasty stuff IMO. Tasted like burnt carmel or burnt butterscotch... definately no likey. But did keep for emergencies...

It took me awhile to get a taste for it. I think it goes great with beer. I wish it tasted like cotton candy though, I love cotton candy!

I like to add RY4 to tobacco flavors, that's pretty, good, it seems to come to life, IMO but by itself, it's either bland, or too sweet

I wonder a bit about flavors because I have mostly only used Marlboro flavor. I liked it because it tasted like a real cigarette, and I suppose that was important because I smoked Marlboros for decades. I've since tried vanilla and RY4. I really liked the RY4 and thought I'd order more of that, but the vanilla gave me the sensation of smoking perfume. I can't imagine the fruit flavors are much different from the sensation I got from vanilla and I don't like menthol, so am I missing something with other flavors? Mixing a few drops of vanilla with the tobacco flavor seems okay, so I'll probably end up using it. I figure I want a background tobacco taste no matter what flavor so it mimics the smoking sensation.

I wonder if they pre-mix the ethyl maltol for tobacco flavors, and when they create something subtler like vanilla it ends up leaving the perfume-y smell/taste

I tend to like cappuccino, coffee and sometimes Marboro or menthol. With the RY4, it is always described as tobacco with hints of caramel and vanilla, blah! not even close for me!

What a shame that you don't care for RY4, it's my favorite. I don't taste cotton candy at all! Hubby thinks it smells like pipe tobacco. But each to their own! Hubby will only vape marl..that's ok with me as long as he is vaping something!
Good luck finding your favorite, you have to kiss a few frogs to find your vape!

Hands down my favorite go-to flavor. A lot of smokers I let try it say it tastes like cotton candy. I think once your sense of taste returns you can start to pick out the more subtle flavors in it.

Interesting, I always thought the cappuccino was pretty close to the ry4 in terms of losing distinctive flavors and becoming a burnt sugar taste if you over-saturate. If you didn't really throw out the ry4 (*horror*) try taking a really small puff of it and breath out through the nose, usually I taste a bit of vanilla/blueberry or something on the tongue, and the caramel (burnt popcorn) I smell on the way out. It really will grow on you...

Taste, as we find here on the forum, is completely subjective. People will describe flavors entirely differently from one another. That said, I have never thought RY4 was any good and I immediately clean out carts when I get a new PV. Just the smell bugs me.

Here's what I posted about RY4 when I first tried it:

I have only tried the Janty RY4, here's my impression...



Go take a 5 mile run. Be sure to wear sweat pants and a diaper.



When you get done, take a piece of whole wheat bread, and wedge it firmly between your sweat filled ....-crack. Slide it around and soak up as much as you can.



Now light that on fire and inhale.





I believe that must have been the inspiration for the flavor.





Your mileage may vary....

I've never heard anyone call it sweet though.

Since I have been analog free going on 66 days, I'm pretty sure my taste is fine (never really was a problem even when smoking) so it seems it's just how that flavor is going to taste to me. It just makes it so hard to judge anything by reviews because a certain flavor will taste different to all of us. I am going to try some liquids from Dawn at ecigsmokestore.com. I'll stick to some of my favorites, but I hear so many good things about her and her liquid...keeping my fingers crossed.
