Hey all. I've recently gotten some vape mail from MBV and the juice is quite flavorful. But it's tank cleaning day so I figured i'd clean em all. Problem is, the smell has survived both hot water and sitting in a bowl of water and dish detergent. I'm finding it annoying so I'm thinking of boiling the little ....s. Is there any parts of a protank 2 or an EMOW that wouldn't survive a boil? I've gotten the protanks taken apart and it seems to be all glass and steel except for the silicon stoppers at either end. Can i just toss it all in there?

For getting rid of odors (specifically):

1. Rinse in a mix of water and vinegar (75% water) Shake or swirl for about a minute.
2. Transfer them to water+baking soda; let it sit for a bit
3. Rinse with water.

The vinegar is a bit corrosive, but does a good job of removing odors. The baking soda both neutralizes any remaining vinegar and handles the rest of the odors.

I would be very concerned that the agitation during boiling would break the tanks. Whiles these may (or may not) be made out the material Corning makes dishware out of, it is much, much thinner and there are lots of stories about them breaking when put under any amount of stress.

Hot water is what I use, but the bumping and colliding in boiling water I would not chance. Even the thermal shock may not be good for them.

Perhaps its the silicone that has sucked up the smell, if that`s the case you may have no other option then to replace them. The baking soda solution above sounds like a winner also.

I soak in alcohol, rinse rinse rinse...

Be careful with alcohol and Protanks. I had a Mini PT 2 that had a Cinnamon flavor that didn't want to come out. I dropped it into a glass of Vodka for two or three days and when I pulled it out, the metal base was showing through where the chrome came off and the black on the bottom tube had ran, and had mostly come off.

Ultrasonic cleaner with hot water works very, very well. You can watch contaminants just boil off your tanks and seals. It's all I use for cleaning small parts.

After trying Denture tablets, Vodka, hot water and repeated rinses, this is what I find works best on my Pro Tank Minis and
RTa's. I've had the bottom parts of the Pro Tanks Mini's corrode after being left too long in water...
Ultra Sonic also is a great way to mix your DIY juice.

Heres what I do. Goes for cleaning tanks and coil heads between rewickings. Partially Dis-assymble, drop all pieces into coffee cup of HOT water and dishsoap, let soak for a few hours, rinse, rinse, rinse, drop pieces back into cup pour in some ISO or any CLEAN alcohol, swirl for a couple minutes, drain alcohol and let parts dry on a towel. The alcohol will sterilize the parts and remove the water.

Why bother with washing if you are rewicking anyway? Most of the old juice is in the wicks. I never wash if I rewick, I do not wash even a coil. Dry burn will clean it anyway.

Going from cinnamon or liquorice to lemon or grape, I gotta clean everything or I get cinna-grape. Not as good as it sounds:)
