Vatican unveils Nativity scene on pope's first Christmas

Vatican City — Pope Francis prepared to celebrate his first Christmas as pontiff with a mass in St Peter's Basilica as a giant traditional Nativity scene named in his honor was unveiled on St Peter's Square.

The Nativity scene made by Naples artisan Antonio Cantone this year is entitled "Francis 1223 -- Francis 2013" -- a reference to St Francis of Assisi, who inspired the pope's choice of name when he was elected.

The saint is commonly credited with being behind the first representation of the Nativity, staged with live actors as is still done in many parts of the world.

Cantone told AFP ahead of the ceremony that he had wanted to build a Nativity to reflect the pope's humble style, giving more prominence to ordinary people dressed in simple clothes in the traditional scene of the birth of Jesus.

"I have based the scene on the message of Pope Francis," Cantone said in an interview in his workshop in the bustling centre of Naples earlier this month.

"The first to arrive when Jesus was born were ordinary people, that is the core of the message I wanted."

Elaborate Nativity scenes became popular in Naples churches in the 18th century to make religious teachings more widely understandable by including snapshots of daily life that people could relate to.

The custom was then adopted by the aristocracy and spread to ordinary people, becoming a yearly and much-loved tradition for millions of Italians.

The most traditional statuettes are painstakingly handcrafted out of terracotta, given glass eyes and painted -- each one a unique work of folk art.

I just received an interesting inquiry. I'll show you the question and my response to it. I DO believe in transparency!!

Question:
First and foremost, all 3 juices I received smell amazing. Any suggestion on steeping time.

Answer:Hi,
I checked what you ordered and there shouldn't be any problem with steeping. I put the ejuice in an Ultrasonic Jewelry Cleaner a minimum of 5 hours before shipping...usually longer.

They should be ready to use when you receive them. Most juices just improve with increased steeping. In particular, the Banyan Tree just get even more amazing over time. Hopefully, you will use them before you find that out! :)

Please feel free to contact me again here on the website or you can just email me directly at glassmanoak@gmail.com
Thanks for the interest,
Sherman

In light of recent developments (ahem, cough), I gather that promoting the sale of vaping goods in any other thread than one specified to do so in its title is frowned upon by the PTB?

To be more specific, other than this thread and the "Deals and Steals" thread, promotion of the 50% off Vape Tree e-liquid sale is verboten?

Am I even allowed to ask this sort of question?

Did you just mention it or did you copy & paste the entire post?

Surely you can just tell your friends? We do ...

I haven't done anything yet regarding copying and pasting, and my "friends" already know. That doesn't really answer my questions.

Regardless, I just placed another Vape Tree order. I'll see if GotSmok cares enough about this sale to post it, ECF rule enforcement is too much to worry about. This forum isn't the only place to promote a sale. I'm getting more and more suspicious of certain members having a personal bias, reporting posts they stumble upon while other posts go unnoticed by all. :glare:

    Thanks for the sale GMO!

I have no idea!! I was told that I could not announce any sale on the Contest thread. I never restricted what could or could not be posted there, other than the fact that only numbered posts are eligible to win the contest. I will contact a Moderator for clarification.. Thanks

I certainly hope ECF doesn't restrict regular users from mentioning a sale in other threads, but sometimes it's hard to keep up with all the ECF rules.

OT: I like how ECF defines abbreviations/acronyms by underlining them, but sometimes they just make laugh. Above Scharph used "PTB," and when I hovered over the term it got defined as "Pyramid Tea Bag" (whatever the hell that is). (Yes, "Powers that Be"--I know.)

    well now.

BIG CONGRATS and hopefully BUSY DAYS for TheVapeTree!!! as ........ pimps the sale!
Gotsmok would be great, lets try and get the word spread there as well!!

Not sure why a registered supplier would not be able to mention their own sale in their own contest thread in which they are giving their own things away for free.......
(apologies for the poor word choice, but the point is valid)
    ill leave it with that.

speaking of sales, 50% off all premium e-juice at TheVapeTree.com using coupon code: CHRISTMAS50 (15$ min order)
    [tell yo friends]
    [tell yo coworkers]
    [tell da masses]

im goin off on a weird tangent...
