Good morning everyone!
So, there's was a little excitement in Puerto Rico last night. At almost exactly midnight, everything started shaking. I grew up in Utah on the Wasatch Fault, and then moved to Los Angeles on San Andreas fault, and we have earthquakes pretty regularly here in Puerto Rico--the point is, I've been through lots of earthquakes in my life, and they usually don't rattle me much (bad pun, I know). The earthquake last night was a pretty big one--6.4 or 6.5 magnitude, depending on the source--and it lasted longer than any earthquake I remember.
I haven't checked the news in a couple of hours, but it looks like we got really lucky--very little damage, and (knock on wood) no one was injured. Obviously, given the time it happened, most people were in bed. From the messages on Twitter, it was strong enough to wake most people.
Apparently there have been close to a hundred aftershocks, too--I haven't felt any, though.
Hope everyone has a great day! (And, for the record, I like the morning. I like the "peacefulness" of the morning before things start getting busy.)
