Pre-oxidized SS mesh wicks are available from many places. I'm not sure it's worth it though. Natural fiber wicks are sooooo cheap, and for those that fear silica in the lungs or hexa-chrome something or other from SS, cotton or hemp is the way to go IMO. Sure, there are the ceramic wicks but good luck with that stuff, it breaks easier than a 2mm OD piece of chalk.

Personally, I did enough sandblasting to cover 100 years of vaping with silica and my lungs are pretty good. I also used lead enough making stained glass that I could easily write my name with the lead on my finger before lunch break... so this fear of brass having some lead doesn't shake me. To each their own, fear is an odd beast, we all have our demons.

With all the tech discussions going on - any "lame" post ain't bad, especially if it has "substance" and I can post too . . .

For what it's worth, when I build micro coils, I pretty much follow LD's method, but instead of pulling the first wraps back off, I take the coil off the needle I use, then heat it up with a lighter and squeeze the coils together using tweezers. I do that untill it looks good and put it back on the needle.

Then, using the needle to keep the coil tidy, I put it on my choosen atty (an aga t), remove the needle and fire the coil red hot and squeeze it with the tweezers before it stops glowing. DO NOT touch the coil with the tweezers while you are firing your mod. I did that once. ONCE. And do that untill it looks good and fires as one unit.

That's how I do anyway.

The "like" button only works once. :(

Sorry, Uncle. Who knows, all this techie talk may even help you someday. A few folks came around eventually, even lisa, much to my surprise. I don't want anyone feeling stuck in the middle of a boring conversation, but if someone asks for help, I do what I can. :)

Edit:
Your vape is only as good as your coil, wick, battery, and device.
The juice! Don't forget the juice! ;)
