Glad you got some rest Robin!
I've got today off to take my son to a SSI mental evaluation, I really hope he gets it, he hasn't been able to hold a job because of the problems he has and it would help him out a lot to have a little money coming in that is actually his. Plus it would help me supporting him.

2. Glad you got a decent amount of sleep Robin...I wish I had...only 4 hours last night and I'm still dragging! But it's my own fault.

Slow, you mentioned about the jigs for coiling...right now I use the Artistic Wire Coiling Gizmo I got from Hobby Lobby and it works great, but I just ordered a set of the Kuro Koilers...those are supposed to be super simple to use and I can't wait to get them and try them out...of course it'll be a while because they're coming on the slow boat from China.

. . .

Only replying to this in the thread as an FYI for EVERYONE who may not know . . .

First though - DISCLAIMER: All Information below is from personal experience and professional knowledge base - which of course is very limited . . . With that said:

Usually, the majority of the time, SSI claims are denied at least 3 times to try to make it extremely difficult for people to get any assistance (and IMO - hopefully have people get frustrated enough that they just give up). Also, any of these SSI Evaluations (be they medical/psychological) lack most of the information needed, because they usually are only cursory and not detailed at all at the time for the person who is reviewing the case to make a proper and/or fully informed judgement - as a result the claim is denied right off (I only know of 1 case that it was approved of the first time it went in-front of a reviewer). So, given this, be prepared to to request an appeal (and if need be, all the way to a hearing before a judge). Which will start the next process that will include submitting even more/additional documentation, testing, and Doctors and/or counselor visits.

NOW - One more thing . . . Be very careful - especially about saying that "You" are supporting him . . . This will give them another reason to either deny his claim and/or also look at your support as an "In-Kind" contribution to his income (anything over $20 per month) - as a result if he is approved for benefits, he will "lose" up to a third of any monies due him.

 There is so much more . . .

4. Yep Uncle, you are absolutely right about them denying almost all claims the first time...we have dealt with a lot of those cases and had to file appeals on behalf of quite a few people...and even those who have clear cut cases of disability are denied at first...I think it must be in their manual to just automatically deny everything that comes through the door!...And I think you're right too about them trying to frustrate people enough to get them to give up...and unfortunately a lot of people do just that...I think it's a shame.

But all this to say, whatever happens, don't give up Jpf...file that appeal if he does get turned down.
