2- In 2013 I spent more on vaping than X-mas lol

More after these intermissions.

DNC bump It's the shots I would be concerned with. I've spent decades around much older folks, my mom ran a social service for the truly "elderly" when I was very young. I've seen the good and bad that traditional western medicine provides. Don't get me wrong, I'm for a little of every method currently available. What your "doctor" provides is often the best, but that obviously depends on the doctor, insurance policies, etc. I've also had my share of steroidal medication and surgery for various medical needs, but I've seen the long term damage that steroid shots can do to a person and it's a tough call. The immediate results are fantastic for pain, inflammation, and allergies, but... sheesh. Searching for other options should be anyone's priority, there's nothing wrong with looking for info.

#1 It's really unfortunate that so many people never look beyond "traditional" medicine for treatments. There are a lot of great doctors out there, and there are a lot of wonderful treatments. But there are just as many that are terrible. So many medications that treat one problem while creating another, so many doctors who jump immediately into cutting out parts of your anatomy. So many times where they treat the symptoms while the ailment or disease gets worse. And so many times where it's not about the health of the patient, but about selling the latest drug or whether or not your insurance will cover the treatment. Medicine in this country is a commodity, like everything else. In some ways, that's a good thing, because the medical community is constantly striving for the next innovation. But it's also incredibly bad, because ultimately it's not about good medicine any more, it's about profits. And when you are cured, you become a number in a column or on a graph. And if it fails, you're just a number in a different column. It's dehumanizing and demoralizing, and we've lost sight of what medicine is supposed to be about: helping people. ~end rant~

First the epidurhal was much better than the hip injections at least during the procedure, now I am sort of hurting without ice, but not too bad, better than a bad back day for sure.

As I have said all my docs are wishing I could pursue some other options, but between the cost of living in this area, and falling under the UCMJ it leaves a lot of options empty. I am doing physical therapy, acupuncture, and chiropractic as well as more "traditional" Western medicine options. As far as steroid shots, they are limiting me on them no mater what, to reduce issues due to the damage done to my body already.

I will have my medical card, but the end result is that I have ruptured many disks in my back due to combat operations, jumping out of aircraft, being blown up, ect ect...
I have taken damage that many say should have killed me, so I feel quite lucky to have the time that I do now, and I am at the point that I just hope to see my grand-kids grow some :2cool: gotta cover the tears at that thought.
Still waiting for the next step in my medical board, everyone just got back this week from the two weeks of block leave, so things are slowly starting to get going.

Thanks guys, I do consider you all sort of like family, and people that I can truly chat openly with.

#3 I spent less on vaping in 2013 than a year of internet service (curse my ISP!), that puts things in a weird perspective. Interesting game, I'll bite.

In 2013, I spent more money on vaping than...

a) all the haircuts I have had in my entire life (I've been shaving my head myself for 25 years).
b) tobacco used in the last 2 years I smoked (I had cut down a lot and it was roll-your-own).
c) the past 10 years of medical bills (I haven't seen a doctor in a very long time).
d) all of the above.

To my credit: I gave away a few hundred dollars of vape stuff in 2013. I'm not counting what I sold against what I spent, and I've sold a lot. I have many years worth of nic concentrate in the freezer, and enough flavoring to last many months or even years if wanted to do that exclusively. More than half the mods and atty's I have are no longer used and need to be sold or given away. There are many worse and/or useless things to collect, I'm not ashamed.

I'm a little slow to get these in today!

Here's mine. . . I spent more on vaping than all the movie tickets I've bought in my life--and I teach film courses! The truth is that I don't go to movie theaters very often--I get too annoyed by cell phones ringing, or people texting, in the theater.
