There are two ways you can run the Subtank Mini. You can install pre-made coil heads, OR you can build coils in the rebuildable atomizer (RBA) deck which also comes with the tank system...
The pre-made coils, also called coil heads or just coils, come in 1.5 ohm (kanthal), 1.0 ohm (kanthal), .5 ohm (kanthal), and .15 Ohm (ni200 for temperature control mods). You do not need to rebuild these, and Kanger has made them difficult to build to preserve their profit margin. It is nice to have the ability to slap in a fresh coil if ever your RBA goes south while you're away from your tools and wick and wire.
The RBA deck has two screws - one positive and one negative - that you will attach a coil you've wrapped on a jig or a screwdriver. Once the leads of the coil are firmly trapped under the screws, you thread some wick (most people like to use cotton, but you can also use rayon or hemp or silica) through the coil. Prime the coil by putting several drops of your favorite juice, reassemble the RBA and install. Vape. Simple...

Thanks for all the tidbits about batteries, if I do go after the subox mini kit I'll probably try to get those green Samsungs. I'm a bit worried now as I thought the new coils were super easy to rebuild which is what lead me to wanting the device in the first place, if the new style is difficult/impossible to rebuild then I'll have to look for another device which is a huge bummer. I'd probably have to end up getting like a Cool Fire IV and some kind of easy to build on RTA. The site I was going to buy from is going to get in Goliath V2s and Goblin Mini RTAs soon and had my eye on those, I don't know a lot about those either and how easy they are to fiddle with. I'm really just looking for something affordable and easy to work with. I can't afford buying 5 packs of coils at $20.
I hope everyone's having a good night, I guess I'm going to sign outta the tree sanctuary for the evening, thanks again for everyone's insight. Sleep well!![]()
