It's very difficult to describe vape experiences, sort of like when you see audiophiles talk about their sound quality. They have words like sparkle, and soundstage, and veil, and that is generally understood by other people of the community. To understand tanks better, I'm hoping some people here can give me some input on what these sounds mean to them and how they get the sound they want.

  • Gurgle
  • Wind
  • Crackle
  • Whistle
  • Compressed Air

For me, gurgle usually means a bad vape because the carto is flooded. Whistle comes from having an ill-fitting drip tip. Compressed air comes from having the tank pushed down too far onto the battery, blocking air flow. I'm still trying to figure out what causes wind sounds and crackle sounds (I know I like crackle a whole lot more) and where things like punch size and juice come into it.

Gurgle to me would mean that the airflow is obstructed by ejuice, which is indicative of flooding or of a pierced or cracked center tube if you mean with a carto.

Wind I am guessing would mean a high amount of airflow, as you might find by not using an overcone or not using additional adapters that restrict airflow to some degree usually.

Crackle to me would refer to the sound you get from the vaporization, and usually some crackle is nice to hear. Excessive amounts of crackle would make me think either it was a fully saturated carto and it might stop sizzling after a few vapes, or I might wonder if the excess sound was due to filler burning or maybe the coil starting to go.

Whistle probably means too much wind which maybe means too much airflow ?

Compressed Air : No idea.

Snaps and pops are tough. On my ego batteries with a DCT I'll hear sounds sometimes which remind me electric arcing. But it's hard to differentiate from sizzle popping sometimes.

I like a sizzle that sounds like a fireplace. Mostly just burning with a few pops here and there when the fire reaches a sap pocket.
