Howdy folks,

Quick question for ya. Enjoying my tank, got some cartos, they a double punched. I'm getting a lot of crackling when I take a hit, not gurgling, crackling. Means the carto is flooded a bit....yes? If that is the case, can I plug one of the holes with say....a toothpick?

other suggestions please.

Sounds like it might be some overfilling going on. What is the ratio of PG/VG in your current juice? Just curious. There is sometimes a small amount crackle with cartotanks...but not usually bothersome. If you are getting a lot..then you likely should have gotten single hole cartos. Hard to say. I don't know if a toothpick would help. Those laser holes are so tiny, I don't even know if you could squash a tip in there. Hmm. Would cutting a little strip of a carto condom and placing it over the hole help? I have no idea how they position a two hole carto however. If they are side by side that wouldn't work, would it. Hmmm. I always use single hole...mostly punch my own. Interesting situation. Looking forward to seeing some responses.

I ask exactly that very question a while back. I'm using a laser drilled boge carto. In all my larger tanks I get no popping noise at all. In the smaller tanks it happens after they sat for a while. The information I got was that the carto and juice had cooled off and the noise I was hearing was the heating element getting hot enough for the vape to be produced. I didn't explain that as good as the others did but I hope it makes some sense. Does the popping, crackling noise go away after you vape for a while?
The laser drilled boges I got from Electronicstix.com have a 2.5mm hole. I've got some dual coils that the hole is really tiny. The boges have a big hole like I would punch myself.

Hello you will get some crackling and some people say that is the cartomizer working. it's not flooding, you'll know when it floods you won't be able to take hit without getting juice in your mouth but for the most part crackling is normal, now it shouldn't pop though. plugging another hole probably won't do the job. it all depends on what your cartomizer ohm is. A higher ohm might require more holes because it will take more juice on and it needs more juice to work right, a lower ohm requires less homes because it takes in less Juice. if you have too many holes in LR then it will flood. and if you do not have enough holes in a HR carto it will have a burnt taste.. I hope I am making sense and I hope this helped. I'm sure someone else will disagree with me and some will agree. good luck

Howdy folks,

The juice is 70/30, although I sometimes use 50/50.

The condom is a good idea. Would have to punch a large hole in one side so one hole would remain open, easy peasy. Good idea, and if it doesn't work I can take it off. The holes are small but very well done so I don't think it was a punch, probably laser, and maybe, just maybe I could plug one, but I think I may try the condom idea.

The crackling does not go away with use, that's why I figured is was being flooded just a bit, like I said, no gurgling so it ain't real bad. Your explanations are understood, no worries.

The original carto that came with the tank was a single punch and I had no problem with it at all.....don't ask why I decided to try a double punched carto when the single worked well....it goes with me being a dork, lol. Just gotta try something different to see if it worked better, HA!

Thanks folks,

Big Mac

Edit....2ohm cartos, using it on my lavatube, and it does pop occasionally, and no juice in my mouth.

I've been using punched cartos with tanks for a couple years. The crackling is perfectly normal. Gurgling is flooding, crackling is the sound of the coil heating the liquid. LR cartos will crackle more because they have less resistance to the volts being supplied. I use 1.25 ohm and crackle all day! As for the holes, I started with 1, went to 2, now I use 3 hole Smok Tech LR cartos. For me they keep the batting wetter and they last longer without frying or turning dark as quick. No issues with flooding.
Hope that helps. Crackle on my friend.
