I've tried juice from KBV, BWB, TV and V4L. None over 20%VG. Filled V4L blank coolcarts(HR), which I've never managed to burn before, not even on my 5V PT, until now. By the 3rd short drag, any carto I try is toast, like the 1ml of juice is being instantly vaporized. The carto gets so hot, even the delrin drip tip burns my mouth! I didn't think anything like that was possible!! So far, the only luck I've had is with a really old pre-filled cowboy menthol carto from V4L. Even with this, I have to top off with 3-4 drops of juice every 4 or 5 hits to prevent burning. While this works, it defeats the purpose of using cartos, as I'm used to filling a blank, slapping it on an XL V4L batt and going all day without even thinking about it. Something has to be wrong, right? I don't have a multimeter, so have no idea what's going on. I will be calling Jay soon but wanted to give him and Sara a bit more down time before I start bothering him with my problems:)

Ugg! Now I have a new problem! Went to change batteries. Put the spent ones in the charger and grabbed the ones I charged up yesterday. Put them in, put on a carto, pressed the button and NOTHING! Made sure they were in the right way, checked the spring and all other connections. These are brand new. Ahhh! I feel like I'm losing my mind!!

Just had a chance to put in my other set of batteries. SAME PROBLEM! Guess my brand new GLV2 is gone. Maybe there was some defect of sorts when it was being made and that's why I've been having so much trouble with it? IDK, but now I know I'll be sending it back to Jay. Hopefully, he can fix it!

1. Relax!
2. I know what you mean about V4L, lasting all day. You'll get there with this too. Be patient.
3. Jay and Sara are having a baby, so you may have to figure this out yourself, or be VERY patient.
4. Your batteries are prolly okay. Check the connection at the brass contact, sometimes I have to wiggle the center pin out a tad from the CARTO. Also, clean the well with a tissue, the juice can interfere here too.

I'm using an adaptor from Jay, so that I may use my 808 cartos and I'm wondering if that's part of the problem? I got it working again, but can still only use that one carto I talked about earlier (the 1.5 yr old pre-filled cowboy menthol from V4L that I keep topping off). When i tried a fresh coolcart filled with BWB Malty Toffee, the carto and drip tip got ridiculously hot, after the 1st SHORT puff. I also got only the thinnest wisp of vapor. I put that same carto on my PT, just to make sure it was working, and it was fine. Good flavor and huge amount of vapor. I'm just so confused and frustrated. I really want to like this thing!

I use an adapter from Freedomsmoke and it is sweet (and I got a lousy one from Dragonfly). Here it is:

But of course I use my 3V batteries with this.

So it seems you have a connection problem with that adapter, on some cartos. I assume you have a 510 GLV-2; if so you should buy some of these: Boge 510 Cartomizer
standard resistance, stainless steel. No adapter, and they work with 3.7V batteries. $1.49 each!

Passthroughs are 5V as well but they don't have the oomph of the GLV-2 and I don't think they are well regulated. Mine works fine too.

I did order some of the boge 510 cartos from PS, a couple days ago, but they were out of the stainless then, so I ordered some of the black. Will they be OK? They haven't arrived yet, nor have my 3.0V batts. Before I go ordering more stuff, I think I'll just wait till the other stuff comes and see if I can get this thing to be consistently operational.

I believe I got it all figured out now:)

• Black cartos should be the same, I just didn't want to throw another [yet another] variable into the mix. You know? I mean, just when you think you have a grip, something changes and the situation gets more complicated. I look at all the gear I have, all the paraphernalia and supplies, and get overwhelmed sometimes. Crap it's like I am a scientist,or chemist or something. And for what? Just so I can inhale vapor. It's crazy, but worth it in the end. I ran 4 miles yesterday in 38 minutes with no breathing problems, no coughing, and my average heart rate was only 149. It IS worth it.
• But I digress, the black cartos will be painted and that may change the heat dissipation of the GLV-2, dunno. OR, they may work better. Let me know!

I will surely let you know how they work out. Hopefully, the adaptor I have hasn't pushed the brass pin down to where it won't make the connection with the 510. Jay says he's putting out a video fix, though, so I should be covered. And, I agree that all this stuff is totally worth it, for the sake of our health! I was snorkling and free diving in Key Largo last week and my son timed how long I could hold my breath under water. I made it 2 WHOLE minutes with HR of 150:) I was really shocked, proud and grateful because that just would not have been possible, before.

First, a word of caution; you may want to check with one of the guys in the modders forum, I think I remember reading somewhere that you shouldn't mix voltages on the batties because it will cause damage. If your GLV2 is resisted to 5V ( with 3.7V batties ), then using stacked 3V batties should get you a nominal voltage of only 3.6V. ( I say nominal because batties do have a little extra voltage on them when you first take them off the charger )

My GLV2 was resisted down to 3.7V but it seemed to hot for some reason and I don't have a meter to see what kind of voltage I was really getting. So I took the resistor out of mine and got a 14650 3.7V batty and a large battery spring from another vendor. The batty is 1300 mAh and I have been using it since Friday evening ( over 20hrs usage so far on the first charge ) and it is perfect so far. If Jay could get another mm inside diameter on the body we could use an 1800mAh 17650 batty. I haven't bothered him with it because I know they just had the baby.

  1. I measure approx. 3.5V/4.2V/5.3V with the 3 combinations of these batteries.
  2. In general you shouldn't mix batteries, at least unprotected batteries.
  3. That said, these batteries we are discussing ARE protected. And their voltages are very close (3.0V/3.7V).
  4. And empirically this is not a problem, as I have been doing it for 2 weeks now, charging EVERY day and constantly changing the load voltage (3.5V/4.2V/5.3V) to suit the carto/liquid/my mood.
  5. I have 30 years in electronics and do similar testing with power supplies.
  6. Great idea with the single battery.
