i got my eGo mega carto in the mail today.. had to charge up my dremel battery before i could get started on modding it to fit my GLV

As some of you may or may not know.. the new Mega eGo Carto is proprietary in the sense that it has a skirt covering the atty threads,, this skirt also covers the threads where the eGo's cone would screw on..

Dremel in hand i got to chopping... 5mins later i had it cut around and at a point i could shave it down with an exacto pen... long story short and without furthor ado.. here are some pics..

these pics arent that great.. i took em with my droid.. this weekend ill bust out the DSLR and take some nice pics.. and if i really feel up to it when i order some more (i only ordered one , i wasnt sure if this would work or not) i may be talked into making a video

$hua....A member of the Vets area also suggested this eGo charger adapter for extending the battery connection to the Mega Ego cartos. Not sure if it would work or not? If it does it would delete the cutting and chisling necessary to use the Mega Ego with the GLV. I'd really like to try that carto with it....but I am lacking steady hands..LOL!

Wiz keep a close eye on your mega carto...

Im 98% sure the inside of mine caused enough heat to create melt points about 1/4 of an inch up from the threads of the carto on the plastic body.

so much so.. that on one side.. it leaks.

ill try to get a pic up at some point.
$hua......Other than I might have fried some of the filler material inside this is working pretty good. I have'nt noticed and burnt plastic as of yet!

Roughly 1/4in above where the threads end.. a very small hole has opened up.. I can only assume it sprang this leak due to heat... On the opposite side of where this hole is located.. is another spot, it looks like the plastic got hot enough to change its shape, but not enough to expose a hole on this side..

I really have been meaning to take pictures of this issue and update this thread.. but alas im overworked and mildly lazy to boot.

and no... at 4.00 a pop.. i only tried one.

I'd suspect it IS the heat. These things meter out at about 2.5 ohms and are completely encased in plastic. If we are getting consistent 5V thru the resistor (very difficult to measure with this type of resistor - think we'd have to break open an atty and put meter leads on the ends of a live coil) - this would be 10 watts. That is a lot of heat for any atty, even ones not encased in plastic. To get to 5V there are different types of resistors and regulators and each produces different heat levels. I have 3 different 5V devices each with a different type of voltage regulation and they each hit very differently from each other. I am beginning to imagine that the difference may only be measurable in AMPS but not yet sure how to accurately measure and interpret AMPS readings.

I tried my first one of these ego-megas on a 6V device and after a few draws took it off due to heat fears. It was an awesome hit tho and much better than regular 2.5 atty on 6V (way to harsh & hot for me).

For the most part, I stick to 4.5 ohm attys on 6V, 3 to 3.3 ohm attys on 5V and use 1.5-2.5 ohm attys on 3.7(ish) volts. I find I get better flavor from juices at these levels. Even tho LR attys technically produce similar watts to HV vaping, I still find the vape experience much nicer at 5V and 6V with the above referenced atty ohms.

I will agree with you on a couple points... for me,, the vape of 1.5ohm @ ~3.2v yeilds the best vape.. its ample plumage, very nice TH, and importantly the heat remains lower with this atty.

now for 5v.. im finding 2.5ohm atty to be the best. Ive tried several 3.2-3.3ohm cartos.. and frankly they just dont do it for me. thats why when they announced these new mega atties would be at 2.65ohm i bout wet the bed with excitement.

but alas.. the plastic housing is not enough for the heat... Janty developers really stuck it to us with proprietary design IMHO

Hey guys..........My Mega cartos seem to be working ok at 5v. I am having some leakage when I try to add more than 1ml.....but the TH and flavor seem to hold until it starts to dry out! Still using the first two I started with....so two week on 1 and week and a half on the other. I lost track on how many re-fills.....but it has been quite a few. The secret seems to be shorter hits for me so I don't fry them!
