GLV-3 Convert 6 volt to 5 volt.

I made a mistake. I thought I would enjoy a hot throat hit so I ordered the 6 volt version of the GVL-3. I got the unit a last week and while it is GREAT, I chock every time I take a hit. What resistor would I need and how hard is it to solder this in? Does the button come off easily? Any help would be appreciated.
