I'm currently shopping for batteries for the GLV2 and noticed some different options for cr123a rechargeable batteries. I see the GLV site sells cr123a 750mah protected batteries for the GLV2 and says they are a great fit for GLV2, but i have seen other cr123a's rated at 1000mah.

1. would 1000mah be a good fit for a 5v. 510 GLV2? If not, why? what are you using?
2. when stacking two 3.7 batteries in a 5v. 510 GLV2, will those batteries tend to last longer than they would in say, a GGTB running at 7.4? (i don't completely understand the resister thingy).... maybe a dumb question, but what the heck?
3. if i am looking at a cr123a battery online and the description is vage, can i tell if it is "protected" or not by the photo of the battery? is there some other way to tell?
4. (non battery question) i hear that attys and cartos on a 5v. device run good at 2.5-3 ohms, how many of you GLV2 vapors are using standard, average 510's if any? WHAT ARE YOUR PREFERENCES OF BATTERIES, ATOMIZERS AND CARTOMIZERS?

P.S. are any of you using carts with b/f mod with your 510 5v. GLV2?

anyways, i know that's a lot to answer in one sitting, and i really do appreciate all the help ive gotten here so far, ive learned tons and tons! this community is awesome!

This pertains to the amount of energy stored in a battery. Theoretically if you had two 5v batteries, one @ 500mah and one @ 1000mah, all other things being equal the 1000mah should last exactly twice as long. The Chinese companies that make these batteries have a tendency to not be accurate in the mah ratings they use so you can't always trust the label.
2. when stacking two 3.7 batteries in a 5v. 510 GLV2, will those batteries tend to last longer than they would in say, a GGTB running at 7.4? (i don't completely understand the resister thingy).... maybe a dumb question, but what the heck?
CR123a/16340's have a nominal voltage of 3.7v. When you take them fresh off the charger they will read about 4.1-4.2v. Because a 5v GLV is regulated down to 5v the drain will be less than the drain @ 7.4v as long as the amp draw is the same on both devices. The resistance of your atty or carto can come into play here.
3. if i am looking at a cr123a battery online and the description is vage, can i tell if it is "protected" or not by the photo of the battery? is there some other way to tell?
You can sometimes tell by looking at the shrinkwap around the battery ane you can see that the ends are a little narrower than the middle. Thats because of the PCB & vent disks that protected batteries use. It is not always accurate though and all protected batteries are not equal. Especially in the batteries used for mods you will find that some are thinner or taller etc. the 750mah AW's jay recommends fit perfect in my GLV2. The Ultrafires I bought are about 1.5-2mm taller and almost fully compress the spring.

This IMHO is too subjective so I will let the veterans give you advice here.

The high drain AW 'reds' are only 550mah compared to the 750mah silver & black AW's that Jay sells. My silver/reds are perfectly round. Most of the time any distortion in the batteries case is either a bulge from an overcharge or a mfg defect. Maybe you got some knock off's or maybe just a bad batch?

thanks guys, maybe i won't send off to china for batteries....
Unfortunately AFAIK all the rechargeable 16340/RCR123a's are made by the same 2 or 3 Chinese companies. Even if you order from the USA it's going to be a made in China battery. I wish Energizer or Duracell made rechargeable batteries in the 'specialty' sizes we use.

All this battery info is starting to piss me off !!

I have both a GLV-1 5v & GLV-2 5v, as well as a GLV-2 mini........

Can I use the BLACK AW ICR (ICR123) 16340 750 mAh batteries in the 5v GLV "without" using spacers, standing on my head, at a 45 degree angle, facing north, and only on Sundays if the sun is shining ??

My other options (again, without using spacers ?) are:

AW IMR 16340 3.7v 550 mAh Highdrain (red) AND AW LifePo4 (RCR123) 3.2v 500 mAh (blue)

Do any of these require a specific charger other than my Tenergy multi charger that I use for trustfire Li-Ion 16340's ??

Help please.... my trust fires are near their end of life, and I need to get some more on order asap without all this confusion.

Thks & VapeOn,
Greg

has anyone tried the trustfire(ones with flame on it) 16340. i love there 14500s in my kazoo, so wanting to know if there 16340s will fit. madvapes says there like 2mm larger.

The red & black w/flame 16340 TrustFires are snug, but they fit. I have several pairs from MadVapes in rotation.

The AW 18650 is 2mm bigger ( in diameter, but shorter in length )

Haven't tried it but but if they're 2mm larger in diameter, they won't fit.

can we use non rechargeable protected cr123a? found some site in a random google search for 85cents each

Never tried disopsables but considering you can typically get several hundred charge cycles on rechargeable, a pair of the most expensive rechargeable cr123s would cost you 13 cents per charge with a mere 150 cycles. Compare that to the $1.70 "per charge" cost of the disposables you found.

Economically, it doesn't make sense to me. I can see keeping a few disposables around for "emergencies" but personally, I'd rather keep a handful of fully charged rechargeable batteries.
