Chemically it's the same, but glycerine can also be extracted from mineral sources. Comes mostly without water which makes it very thick.
VG is gained form plant material and usually has somehwere around 15% water content. BP is what counts ( BP = British Pharmacopeia ), so it's pure enough for vaping purposes.
