I hope this is the right place for this. I have done a lot of reading and research.

I have been looking at the ego and smoke tech with the kanger evod up top.

My question is should I start small and then look to upgrade or should I say the heck with it and get a nice unit like a v3 or provari?

should I get the ego first and keep as a travel piece when I move up?

just trying to be money smart.

I would suggest that you should start with variable voltage at a minimum. Something like the ego twist or vision spinner, they are a good way to start and are always great to have on hand for travel or as backups, anything bigger or more expensive than that is entirely up to you. I was a 2 pad a day smoker and started with 2 1000mah ego twists one to charge while I used the other. Even if you purchased a Provari, it would be wise to have some kind of backup just in case of problems. :)

No matter what way you go you will probably wind up with couple of ego batteries just because their small and easy to carry around when your out and about so it's not going to be a waste of money to get them right away.

Variable voltage became important to me a few months into vaping as my ability to taste came back.

What ever you get keep in mind that your going to want a backup. With APV mod's you might consider a Vamo and a SID or Provari and an EVIC, etc. but don't forget about a battery charger.

A backup battery charger is often overlooked but if your charger goes bad your in the same situation that you would be in if your PV went bad.
