So what exactly does VW vs VV have to do with comparing the Vamo to the ProVari?

Okay, of course I know the Vamo has VW, and the ProVari only has VV... Pretty sure the OP knows this as well... Maybe not?

A more objective post would list the pros and cons of each device, preferably by someone who has both devices, and can give their truw opinion of the merits of one device over the other...

All this nonsense about technologies being used, the ability to taste or not taste the difference between one device or another, just seems to be muddying up the intent of what the OP was trying to find out...

Imagine if you were the one that had decided on buying one or the other, then looked in this thread to find the answer...

After page 2, I would leave the thread and move on... The first page or two got the point across that "As long as money isn't a hindrance, ProVari is what I would get" is a pretty overwhelming opinion from people that actually have both devices. Even folks that don't have a ProVari concede that they are built better, have better support, and a better warranty, albeit with an inferior user interface.

So how are any other arguments relevant at this point? Doesn't seem like we're helping the OP out at all at this point, we're all just being a little selfish trying to get our digs in...

I've been guilty of it too... Certainly not a moderator or white knight here... Just thought I'd point it out that we've probably scared away most folks by now... :)

And just to clarify... Here is a direct quote from the OP:

"for the record I really don't care about VW vs. VV"

I think the issue is that regardless of whether the OP cares, many other people read these threads and if they don't know better they can be misled by some of the denigrating comments made with respect to vw.

People start saying vw is "a gimmick", "a fad", "for noobs", or "the same thing as VV" - all disinformation.

I don't choose to leave such comments unchallenged.

If someone doesn't feel the benefit of vw is important to them, or that despite the benefits of vw, there are other more important factors to consider, that is fine. Say that. I say the same thing all the time.
"while vw has a benefit over VV, the value of that benefit depends on the individual and there are other factors that are more important in making a choice in a variable power mod."

I personally think vw is a superior method of power control, mostly on conceptual grounds, but also in application to some extent, and would like to see all power regulated mods incorporate it, but even I think there are several more important factors on which to make a purchase decision.

My 2cents

do yourself a favor and get yourself the provari i have two lavatubes, two vamos, two zmaxs one from smok and one from sigelei a few box mods and two provaris mini and standard.
So save yourself the money youll end up with a provari sooner or later, most people do if there serious about vaping.

Yeah......Provari
the only people suggesting provari are either ones that don't have one or ones that are in denial about buyers remorse :p just get a vamo

Your kidding right? No comparison between the two....

P(W) = V(V) × I(A)

So watts are equal to volts times amps:

watt = volt × amp

or

W = V × A
Example

What is power consumption in watts when the current is 3A and the voltage supply is 5V?

Answer: the power P is equal to current of 3 amps times the voltage of 5 volts.

P = 5V × 3A = 15W

Hope this clears things up for some that are still on the vv vs vw..
Why we need vw?

This (VW) comes in handy when I am rolling new coils. Most are in the 2.3-2.7 range (ish), but rarely are two the same. The auto-adjusting that "VW" mode offers by default makes swapping flavors simple.

I find that I "twiddle with my settings" less with a VW device as opposed to VV.

It's all good, just like cars, some people prefer an automatic, while I'll stick to my 6-sp manual.

I've been reading thru several "Provari vs <enter name>" over the years. One thing has stayed the same: it's almost always gonna be "A provari" vs "another mod".

Nobody has yet designed and marketed a tube mod that has garnered such a following. It has a following because the company makes good kit, and has excellent customer service after the sale (they were the first mfg I saw with 'return-repair' options).

Somebody has mentioned Honda vs BMW earlier in the thread. There are literally dozens of similar comparisons we can make.

Working from the low-end of the budget spectrum (and with a Provari still in the high $100s, the spectrum is compressed from the get-go), I was drawn to the vamo for it's "bang for the buck".

A vamo (IMHO) tries to be all-things-to-all-people (that want a tube mod).

VV? sure, we can do that (not as clean as a Provari, but we'll get 90+%)
VW? yep, with the same tolerances due to circuitry
Ohm check? Got that, it's prolly in the high 90s for accuracy, based on my anecdotal evidence
2 power settings? good there, RMS and "that other setting"
different battery options? can use 18350 or 18650, not the best, not the worst.
build quality? <-- here you do get what you pay for, somewhat. the finish on stainless is nice, not quite the pro job on a provari.

Here is what caught my attention when first released: The special price was $45.00. That is a little more than 2 Twist batts from many vendors.

$45 vs $159 (new mini). That's the biggest crunch for me. Sometimes it seems so silly to agonize over what used to be 3-4 cartons worth of coin, yet here we are.

I "worked up" from KR808 sticks to standard ego batts fairly quicky, because the stick just weren't doing the job.

I never would have figured out what worked for me (and put to rest alot of nagging 'what-ifs') if I jumped straight to the end-game. The tips and tricks I've learned along the way has made me see myself as a very different vaper in 2013 than I was back in 2009...

Maybe we should all pool our "old PV storage boxes" for a caasa raffle, it could be in the thousands! :)

I had been using a smokeless image big battery for about a year. Decided to go with an APV and choose the vamo. Got it 2 days ago and like it allot. the one thing i had to do was get all new tanks, cartos, etc for the 510. in fact i spent more on those than the vamo. because of that, i ordered a provari today, figuring now that i have 510 stuff, i might as well. the only thing i don't like about the vamo is the aesthetics. since money want a concern, i want something that looks like i didn't machine it in my garage :) i have enough people asking questions about my

Thank you everyone for taking the time to respond to my post. Everyone here has brought up valid points, and after I really sat and thought about it, I'm going to take the provari dive. After all, its really only the cost of a single months worth of cigarettes for me. After I brought that into prospective, why the hell not? Now as for deciding on which carto/tank set up I want, that is another story lol. Thank you everyone for your input!

I own a Provari and am extremely satisfied with it. It's been a solid performer for just about a year now. I've read much and have heard of no VV device that comes close to matching that. If I had it to do over again I'd still buy it. That said though my Vamo should arrive by Saturday. Why did I get it? Well nothing works forever and just in case I don't want to be caught with nothing and I also wanted to see what all the fuss is about with VW. I've read some fair things about the Vamo and got it for about one-forth the price of a Provari so I figured why not.

I got a Vamo for the same reason, I wanted to see if VW lived up to the hype. Not so much for me, at least it was cheap.

I think you made a good decision...

And got a lot of stuff to go with it too! Nice!

The ProVari is pretty easy to learn, but it is a bit tedious to get used to... A tiny learning curve deciphering what all the two letter codes mean on the display.

If you have any questions on how to use it, just ask here and you'll be certain to get the answer. Also some great stuff on YouTube about how to use it, ans what all the error messages mean...

Good luck to ya!
