...and it doesn't look like it's going away any time soon.

I've got so much juice on hand and I can't really taste most of it. The Velvet Cloud Vapor order I got in a couple days ago is quite muted, and I can't taste anything from a few of the flavors I got from The Vapor Chef today. I have flavors from all across the board but I can't taste much bar Five Pawns, Whit E. Octopus's Minty Mountains, Alice In Vapeland's Mang-Ri-La, and Vapewell's Hive. It's just all muted.

I've been recently going more PG and lowering my nic levels. Most of my juice is 70%+ VG and 3mg nic. Is that possibly the cause? My Whit E. Octopus is at 70% VG but I can still taste all the flavors, but not so with my other high VG liquids.

I'm stuck in a rut, here, and I'm hoping you guys can help me out! What do you do when you get vaper's tongue? I've run a search and didn't find too many tips past rotating flavor profiles to avoid vaper's tongue - but I already have it? Should I take a break from vaping for a few days?

Hardware for reference: PAPS X, GP Spheroid, Russian 91, Mutation X, Magma.

It takes 10-14 days for your taste buds to rejuvenate and 2-3 days for them to reinervate. You should be tasting something. You aren't eating really spicy foods that may be damaging these new buds? Ya got treat them gently. Really salty foods will keep you from tasting other flavors as well. Stay away from excessive amounts of spicy or salty foods and hydrate well and see if that helps you any.

High VG can be the culprit in that it gives more vapor and is not a flavor carrier, pg is.

I've been (mostly) off cigarettes for about 9 months now. The only times when I smoke are those times I travel for work (2 times this year). I also have a couple cigarettes a month depending on who I'm with or what I'm doing.

I love spicy foods, but haven't been eating many lately. I keep the salt in the food I cook low. I may not be hydrating enough - I should drink more water to see. I drink about 1 liter of straight water per day, not including the .5 liter of coffee/tea I go through at work.

High VG ratios will mute your flavors somewhat without a flavor shot or two added to compensate.
If you have some unflavored juice a lot of us use that or vape something we don't like much until we get our taster back.

Three weeks is a long time I believe to have vapors tongue tho'

Not much help I know

I'm thinking I may place a high PG order of juices I already have to see if I can taste the difference. I should also see about starting to DIY earlier than I was hoping (next month) so I can add extra flavor.

Thanks for the comment :)

are you drinking scalding coffee or something when you vape? that'll do it.

I know it took me awhile off the ciggies, to go completely VG to let my taste buds grow back to normal (they change in shape, flatten, and then the olfactory system damage that goes with taste) but my daughter went all VG and I barely if at all could taste hers two months ago, now I'm vaping a lot of those same ejuices and they're delish.

get a flavor shot if you can, go flavorless for two weeks, mix it up..and lots and lots of water/liquids that are non dehydrating (I've noticed certain juices mask some of the flavors or alter them to "nasty" espeically OJ's and suck, I'm sucking on a Hibiscus tea most of the day having some fluid retention with the vaping thing that's settling out and it helps) but examine exactly what's going on, isolate ONE variable and change only that..plus time.

Good luck

This may or may not help, but when vaping, you should be consuming more water than you normally do.

That's a good shout - I've got a gallon jug, I'll start keeping it with me at my PC so I can vape and drink.

Try this... add some lemon juice (Not Concentrate) to your water intake. It will most certainly help clean your palate! It's also very good for your liver! :)

I hadn't thought of this, even though I take a tablespoon-full of honey and lemon when my throat hurts and it clears my palate pretty well. I'll try this in conjunction with drinking more water.

I do find that I can definitely taste Bombies's 'nana cream pretty well now that i've drank more water, even if the rest of my liquids are pretty tasteless. I may just stick with the 'nana for a couple weeks, let the taste buds settle, and then start trying my other flavors.

This is exactly what happened to me when I started. The only thing I could taste was menthol. I would wait before ordering more juice. You might end up with a whole lotta juice that you don't like when your taste buds start working. Just give it some time. Hang in there and don't give up.

I've got a couple sample box services coming in in two weeks. Though I could just receive them and let them steep. But you're right, no more juices at the moment. I'll put what i have right now in my closet and let it sit for a couple weeks while I vape on a pretty neutral flavor like Bombies's 'nana cream.

Thanks for all the responses and ideas!

I am having some issues as well. Can you tell me what level of Nicotine you are using. I am using 24mg in my juices. I am hoping that a lower level of nicotine will help resolve my issue. I have seen some of the long time vapers using really low levels of Nicotine. I hope that the lower level helps me. I really don't want to go back to analogs...

Keep in mind that some juices need time to mature and for the flavors to fully release. I've had a few that were basically flavorless out of the box, but they really came alive after sitting for a couple of weeks. Store them someplace dark and cool for a little bit. Or look up "steeping" on the forum. Some people have pretty interesting methods to speed up the steeping process. Good luck!

I'm on 3mg and 6mg. Lower nicotine should, but not always does, enhance flavors. This is for a couple reasons: the vendor might use less flavor on higher nicotine juices (they keep a PG and VG standard mix ready, put in the right amount of that in a bottle, mix it with nicotine and flavor). But more likely you're getting hit with the nicotine and not getting as much flavor. I've noticed in high nic juices I usually get an aftertaste from the nicotine and don't really notice as much flavor. I have a 24mg juice that i bought by accident that really doesn't get as good flavor as my other juices (when I can taste them).

I drink a ton of water a day 8-10 bottles and I still get in from time to time. The only thing that I find that helps is Biotene mouthwash 2-3 times a day especially right before bed .

I drank a lot more water (probably a gallon yesterday and half a gallon so far today) and it's helped a bit. I also stuck with three flavors last night, as opposed to my usual 6+ (just see my picture at the end of this post to understand why...) and that may have helped as well. I was thinking perhaps all the flavor switching has been confusing the hell out of my taste buds.

Good shout on the Biotene. I've got it on order from Amazon now, seems like it may help. Despite all the water I've been drinking my mouth is still a bit dry, so this could help with that.

Subbed. Mine just started. I don't want to go back to my cigars but they are looking good now

I'm probably going to get into DIY liquid a bit earlier than I had hoped - thinking about ordering PG, VG, and Nicotine to make myself an unflavored vape to puff on for a week. See if that resets everything. May be worth trying - it's extremely cheap, too, relative to buying your own liquid. A bottle of VG and a bottle of PG off Amazon (Prime eligible) go for less than some 30 mL bottles of liquid - for 1900 mL of unflavored, un-nicced 50/50 juice! You'll need a small bottle to mix it in, some syringes (larger gauge needle for the VG, thin gauge is fine for the PG - don't use the same in both!) and a bottle of nicotine (you can get a 12mg 120 mL bottle for $6.39). I'm going to give the Steam Engine Juice Calculator a try and just replace the flavor levels with more PG. I'll probably give it a ratio like this and see how that works for me. Later on I can do the same ration just add flavor.

Keep in mind that some juices need time to mature and for the flavors to fully release. I've had most of these guys for over a month, with only the Bombies and the smaller blue and white capped bottles arriving last week. I can't even taste the steeped juices :(

I drank a gallon of water on Friday and over the weekend, but didn't notice the flavors getting better. I could actually taste something when I got home from work yesterday, though, to my surprise. I kept the water intake up but the flavor started to fade a bit before I went to bed.

I guess I was more dehydrated than I thought!

Still, I could only taste a limited range of flavors. I'm starting to think I may not only need to vape on some unflavored DIY liquid over the next few days but I'll also need to limit the amount of flavors I try every day. I think I was getting tastebud overload. 6-10 flavors per day, switching between them every time I needed to redrip, just in the search of that ever-elusive ADV.
