soon i think :) I would love to try some DIY as I really prefer single fruit flavors. I do have a few questions

I know that I can get vg and pg locally as far as i have read on here I should be able to figure that out.

I seem to prefer an 80%pg mix. When i buy my unflavored nicotine liquid should i buy pg or vg? 120 ml of 100 mg Flavorless Nicotine Liquid I found this sale. looks like an awesome price?

As far as the rest of my stuff I am not sure what all i will need and was looking at the kit from one stop diy. Is that a good deal for what you get? I figured it would give me enough to try my hand and i could order what i need as i run out or realize what i am going to use the most of.

what is the best watermelon, peach, strawberry and cherry?

where is the best place to get PGA?

so one of my reasons for wanting to diy is the "what if" i read alot of threads on fda regulation etc and what if they do start regulating ecigs and more importantly eliquid. wouldnt that shut alot of our favorite vendors down? I would be SCREWED if i couldnt vape. i do not want to go back to analogs they taste like burning lol.

thanks for taking the time to help me out !

If you're wanting to end up with an 80/20 mix you'll want to order a PG base. Rule of thumb is if you want a higher PG percentage order that as your base, if you want a higher VG order VG base. Be careful with 100mg nicquid, it is a bit dangerous so use gloves and goggles when mixing. You might consider cutting it down to 50mg with PG when you get it to reduce the risk. I haven't dealt with RTS Vapes but the price is decent and it looks like they may be in PA.

As far as what you need to get started, there really isn't too much equipment you need. A few empty bottles, either new or thoroughly cleaned used ones. A couple of syringes in 1 or 2 ml, and one around 10ml will get you started. Get a 20ml or so later on. I wouldn't bother with a kit because I wouldn't use half the stuff they put in them anyway. Madvapes sells syringes for around $1 or so and they have PG, VG, and flavorings. You can also find them at local drug stores, look for the type used to give liquid oral medications to infants. Also, don't forget a pair of gloves and eye protection.

I'm not a fan of fruit flavors although I've mixed a few. Lorann's strawberry is pretty good @ around 15%, their watermelon is also good @ 12%. Generally my starting point is 10% flavoring. I can always add a bit more without dropping the nic level down too much. Others will be able to give better advice on fruit flavorings though.

The best place to get PGA is probably a local liquor store. Try to find a small bottle of Everclear. If they don't have it look for some high proof Vodka.

Locally, Everclear (PGA) was twice the price of high proof vodka. Needless to say, I use vodka.

I'm a fruit kinda guy...wait... I like fruits... drats... OK, I find fruit flavors my favorites. They're very easy to mix.

Just to try my hand, I bought 60mg in 60/40 and several bottles of unflavored 60/40 on $ale. I blend 1:2 for 20mg and then add the flavor. That gets me close to the 18mg I normally vape. Easy!

Now, hurry up and get started!

I use scubabatdan's e-juice calculator spreadsheet. Always up on my desktop. If you are fine with some PG/VG mix you have gotten from a vendor, start with that for your DIYs. I personally cannot do much PG at all, essentially only what is in the flavors I use, and even then 10% or less.

Get some 3 mL and 12 mL syringes for dispensing. Several vendors sell them, but I got mine cheap a while back from a animal supply company. 17 gauge blunt needles are what I use, and even then VG is fairly slow to get through them.

My high-nic unflavored is stored in 30-50 mL amber glass bottles with eurodroppers for sealing and safe syringe dispensing. I store the unflavored nic in the freezer.

Some use PGA to thin. I use distilled water. My rule is %flavor + %water = 22%. So if I make a 5% flavor, water is 17%. Cartos like thin juice. I sometimes make an unthinned VG juice for atty dripping only, which can be quite nice.

But if PG doesn't dry you out too much you can thin with PG. I never used PGA, but 80 - 100 proof vodka will do the same. I used 5% vodka in my DIYs, but alcohol dries me out too much, so I use water now. Its too bad, as a little alcohol will open flavors up more, and adds an airiness that is nice.

Nitrile gloves are good for nic levels higher than 36mg. Oh, and LOTS of paper towels! DIY, especially in the beginning, is MESSY!
