After 14 months of rotation my first 3 AW batts are still going pretty good.
They still charge up to 4.2 but don't seem to last quite as long.

They are the Black button top protected 2200 mAh that are short enough to fit into my Grand and one of my Woodvils safely. I like them, I've always liked them better than the IMR. But I use the IMR in all the REOs that are just a touch too short for some spring collapse room.

I like them so much I'm pretty sure its why the one woodvil thats a bit longer has become my favorite. I take it with me everywhere. It has so much room in the batt compartment that a IMR doesn't really work. I have to keep opening the door and putting the battery back in its place. (No the spring isn't partially collapsed) Its been that way since the day I got it.

Anywhoooo back to the point. For the 48 bucks it would take to get 4 new ones and the peace of mind.
I'm going to hit up Randy with an order and drop these in a recycle bin at our local electronics store when the new ones arrive.

But I am really impressed they lasted this long. I don't have a clue how many cycles on the charger ......
But I can tell you I'm a voltage snob so they didn't hit 3.8 very often and I would bet my life they never dipped below 3.7 :D

Soooo anyone got any going daily longer than 14 months ????

And for the record I do not recommend anyone use anything other than the RED AW IMR batts.
If you use non-reccomended batteries do some research and do so at your own risk.

Well I have a feeling this is going to lead to some questions about the 2200 mAh Black AW

So I did some measuring.

From a point to not include the spring length. (pos nipple to base plate of spring)
The Woodvil in question thats longer (Q-sawn Oak) measures 1.6 mm longer than my Oak
And 1.5 mm longer than my Cocobolo using good digital calipers.

And the 2200 mAh button top measures 2mm longer than an IMR (both AW brand)
67.7mm vs 65.7

So the Black 2200 mAh is compressing the spring .4 to .5 mm more in the Q-sawn
compared to a RED 1600 mAh in my other two woodvils.

IMO by looking still plenty of room (actually held a burnt compressed spring up to it) for the batt to break contact if needed.

The reason I like them is not the stated "extra 600 mAh"
They just feel like a touch more punch at the beginning of use.

And I do not always use the black ones in my Grand. Its probably 70/30 between the black and red batts.

But I do use the black ones 100% of the time in the Q-sawn woodvil.
And that woodvil gets used for probably 50% of all my vaping.
Which is another reason I'm impressed at how long the darn batteries have lasted.

Well Tim my oldest are also 14 months old and maybe thats a pretty good thought you have there. Mine are the orange AWs and have never had a problem with them. Thanks for this thread it got me thinking and better to be safe than sorry.

Ya, splodin batts are on everyones mind lately :(
I just figure its time to get some fresh ones in the house.
