In the land of no hills and red dirt
My experiences with previous GG tank mods could simply be described as an outtake from the classic MGM musical “The Sound of Music”. Picture me dressed in a suit, arms gleefully outstretched running down a pristine alpine hill like Julie Andrews in the title song for that production, only to stop halfway, open my jacket and notice a massive juice stain on the inside pocket of it.

Ah, the ecstasy and agony of the earlier Automatic Feed System, versions one and two. Ecstasy because these mods could deliver an unparalleled, seemingly never ending supply of thick, rich, tasty vape that a simple bottom feeder can’t match. Agony because they could be complicated, temperamental and prone to problems, the least of which not being a tendency to suddenly leak massive amounts of juice for seemingly no good reason.

Therefore, it was with mixed emotions that I decided to try the new GG tank mod, the UFS, or Uninterrupted Feed System.* After reading about the glowing reviews of this tank, and it’s separate juice and air controls I decided to try it despite my earlier trials and tribulations with the prior versions. But I was unsure if Imeo had upped his game a bit with this mod as he did with his stainless steel version of the GGTS, or if I was a gullible, hype prone idiot with too much discretionary income. My package from Clouds of Vapor arrived Monday morning, shortly followed by a nasty cold.** Knowing that I was not physically and mentally prepared for the challenge of a new GG mod, I put it away until recently.

The UFS is a stainless steel juice feeding tank meant to work exclusively with GG mods such as the Golden Greek Telescopic System (GGTS). It houses a variety of 510 atomizers and cartomizers inside a tank of liquid, and uses gravity and air pressure to automatically feed juice and air to them while the user inhales-no squeezing required. The user can manipulate separate controls to deliver precise amounts of air and juice according to his or her individual preferences. It comes with two interchangeable tanks, a smaller all metal one for regular 510 atomizers and a larger one with a opaque window for longer atomizers and cartomizers. It also comes with a top nut for the user to use his favorite 510 drip tip, or can use optional plastic and steel mouthpieces custom made for the device. The mod also has a atomizer connection/juice collection tank which replaces the equivalent part of the GGTS when being used with the juice mod. I will be using this only with low resistance 510 attys and cartos, my days of stacking batteries is over.

I initially had some teething problems in assembling and using the device; I mistakenly used the window tank for a regular 510 atomizer, which caused it to leak after initial use. My atomizer was perpetually flooded until someone kindly informed me that I had my juice control set to maximum juice feed instead of minimum as I had thought. My first niggle about the device is-IMHO-the same bane as all GG products; a lack of thorough, complete instructions and directions accompanying the device upon delivery.

I’m going to take some heavy flak from other GG enthusiasts for making that broad statement: GG is like the Apple computer of the vaping world. Well designed, functional, elegant, but pricey mods unlike most others with a charismatic founder and legions of devoted, loyal fans. Both groups are fiercely passionate and protective to the point of being fanatical, and I’m halfway expecting to receive engraved invitations to duel in my mailbox next week. But I’m sticking to my guns. Despite the warning on the website for the product that “this is an advanced vaping device”, the wiki (thanks to inquisitorj for his great instructions that kept me in the game), the videos (my movie pirating, internet draining neighbors, lack of time and tragically short attention span prevent me from watching four or five ten minute clips), and forum support (again, thanks, guys) don’t excuse not delivering simple instructions with such an expensive, complicated device. Honestly, put the wiki instructions on a simple piece of paper in the package, or even email them to customers after ordering. Maybe I’m getting to be a fussy old PITA***, but this can be handled better.

The other minor quibble is that there needs to be a beveled edge on the juice tank/control as there is on the air control ring. The bottom tank section needs to be gripped and turned to alter the flow of juice to the atty/carto; the smooth surface can be tricky for me to properly grasp, and half the time I end up unscrewing the tank pieces from each other instead of moving the tank as a whole. I may even explore a way to alter the bottom piece to alleviate this problem.

THAT being said, this appears to be an extremely well designed, expertly crafted mod. The separate juice and air controls, instead of being overly complicated, are almost intuitive to use due to what I can only describe as an ingenious design. With a minimal amount of tinkering, I can dial in the precise amount of air and juice for optimum vape and taste every time. And once I get it there, I can repeat the experience over, and over...and over. Seriously, I’ve enjoyed this mod so much that there was a couple of times I lost track of my intake and thought I was going to DIE. Come to think of it, I may have to drastically cut down on my nic levels a bit on this sucker...and make sure my will is updated.

It’s almost a bit hard to describe the experience vaping on it so far. I’ve heard earlier juicer mods described as having a ‘just dripped feeling every time’, but this is having a just dripped, with just the right amount of juice magically being applied to the optimum spot on the atty every time. It’s almost surreal. In analog terms, I tend to treat this as more of a fine cigar after dinner than a quick cigarette on a break. I want to sit down, appreciate and savor the experience rather than mindlessly puff. So far, it’s that good.

But this isn’t my first time around the block, nor would it be the first time to ultimately have my heart broken after a promising first date. A few concerns come to mind: How will attys and cartos last in it? Will it be practical for every day use, or only be good as an armchair mod? Is this thing safe to carry around in an inside pocket of a good suit, or will it leak? What will it think after meeting my parents?

I’ll continue to check back in, and report on my progress and maybe even do an extended use review. Mods are like girlfriends, you only really get to know them after you’ve lived with them for at least a month. I may even be brave enough to carry it inside of my suit jacket after a bit. Who knows, you may even see me running down a mountain, singing to it!

*I’ve heard some describe it as the Ultimate Feed System. For some reason, the term UFS makes me think of professional wrestling.

**The great irony is I couldn’t help thinking as I laid in bed with a low grade fever, nauseous, half conscious, and barely able to move, that I used to spend good money to feel exactly the same way!

You're an amazingly gifted writer, and I'm looking forward to the updates as you live with your new girlfriend and get to know her better.

I understand and empathize with the lack of instructions on pv's. Even the eGo can baffle a first time user. (raises hand)

One of these days I will own the beautiful GG and I hope the instructions will be included by then.

Congrats on your new GG-UFS!!! Looking forward to hearing your song echoing through the hills. :)

Thanks, Uma. BTW, it occurred to me that I had mistakenly bought the delrin mouthpiece and atty extender from CoV earlier, thinking they would fit on my AFSv2. But, come to think of it, they should work on my UFSv2! Serendipity, yea!

Right now, enjoying a nice little english toffee mixture in my shorty config (which is how I'm keeping sane while going off of sugar) and it is absolutely dee-lish! Ohhh, Mama!

Seems like the new UFS was out to get me yesterday. Lot of frustration and malfunction.

I'm middle aged. My eyes aren't that great anymore. I've got a lot to do around the house and the office, and I'm trying to get over a cold. My concentration is shot, and my patience is at zero.

In other words, I'm in no condition to mess with a new GG tank.

But before I say :censored: IT! and throw both the mods on the classifieds (the iatty and the UFS), I figure I'll take a day off and try my conventional mods first. The bonuts are really calling to me...conventional attys with a augmented stainless steel wick for extended use dripping...kind of like a atty and carto hooked up and had a kid on the wrong side of the tracks.

Do they vape as well as the UFS did yesterday? No. But I'll take a mod that'll vape 75% as well 100% of the time versus one that does 100% half the time. Or less. And the bonuts don't require me to watch 50 minutes of videos and read 200 pages of forum posts to use them effectively!

I'll go about my business today, try to get some more stuff done, and come back to the UFS with some new attys and cartos. At least one good thing about these mods is that I can get most of my money back if I don't want them, maybe more if I'm willing to rape another forum member (which I'm not).

I'm taking a deep breath, and will be back. Promise.

LOL, you are a great writer.

I also am a new UFS owner. I read all about the device before I even decided to buy one. Being an advanced user device I figured I better do plenty on studying before it arrived. I watched about an hour worth of Youtube videos(thanks GG community!) and read many pages on ECF.

The only bad part of the UFS was watching people selling them for $250 used on classys. The week from hell waiting for the notification email was very tough. Then BAMM! Pre-order notice! I composed myself and quickly filled out the order form. After calming down, I realized that the Stealth Caps were also on sale, so I made a second order. Then a few hours later I realized my search for an iAtty was not going so well. I knew many iAtty owners were always looking for UFSs for trade. So back to the computer and a third order for a second UFS.

After a short wait, my packages started to arrive. I cleaned off my vape table and began the assembly process. I followed all the recommended points from videos. The first thing I did wrong was only adding a small amount of juice for the first go around. I got it work work great right away! Then soon enough, I was out of juice. Then came my second, and last mistake. I pulled off the top cap and filled it full of juice. Notice what I did wrong? I did not close the juice control. The pressure created while putting it back together filled my atty. Oops, figured that out right away. Oh well, I lost about 2ml of juice.

After that, it has been vaping bliss! I have had no other problems. I have only adjusted the juice control about 4 times. I found that small adjustments work the best. Other than adjusting the draw/air control every once and a while, I have not had to do anything. I am far from a fan boy, but yes I do like the product.

I was in a bit of a snit when I wrote the last post. Going to take a break in the catch up work tomorrow, get some rest, and try it again.

But honestly, should you have to watch an hour of videos before using a device? When mine worked the other day, it was glorious. When it didn't, 'twas horrid.

Here's to hoping that tomorrow's a better day. Eh, guess I'll try you tube tonight until the wife gets home from out of town.

Thanks.

Addendum: Saw an excellent instructional video on you tube by vaportrails.tv. Thanks for the hint. Wonderfully detailed, yet concise, and it had a couple of hints that I missed. And like my late mentor Jack Robbins, being somewhat of an Anglophile, the accent was a bonus. Think I'll take her all the way apart and try it again tomorrow.

Will have to go through my vape desk in my geek nook (kind of like an archaeology dig) and see what kind of 510 goodies I can dig up. LR shorty 510 or maybe a dual coil carto? What do you guys say?

Thanks again, Clyde

And honestly, had someone provided me with a link during the ordering and/or delivery process, it would have saved me a solid half hour of .....in'!

After watching the vaportrails video again, I discovered I was either missing or had lost the top o ring that goes between the top cap and the atty. The forum had a convenient o ring guide posted by Imeo, and my local ace hardware had one in that size in the metric drawer for $.78. Normally, I would consider that to be the equivalent to prison rape, but under the circumstances I was happy to shell out almost a buck.

Most importantly, I'm back to enjoying the hell out this thing again. Ah, the flavor-the flavor! It hasn't given me a problem at all today, and I may just consider putting this back in the ol' jacket pocket...in a day or two.

Thanks for the help, and putting up with my whining.

It seems like the ideal atty for the new UFS is the HH357, which does not seem to be available in my country. It has 510 threads, and long enough so you will not need to go mini on the tank. You can use the tank at full mode and the atty will still stick out long enough for you to put a cherry vape drip tip on.

The closest i could get to it is a dual coil 510 cartomizer but it's way longer, with the end of the carto sticking far out of the top cap. here's how it looks like:

The overall length is such that the entire SSGGTS-UFS setup almost didn't fit the cigar caddy.

What do you think guys? Does it look acceptable or is it just plain stupid-looking?
