Golden Rod V2.1 Tube Mod DIY

So after building a few box type mods i went for a tube mod, Here it is..3/4 x 4 inch nipple 10$ 4 3/4 caps 8$ 1 short nipple 4$ 1 5v reg 2$ 2 510 male and 2 510 female conector 6$ 2 soft tip from cartos free 1 #10 x 1 1/2 flat screw 3 #10 nuts = 1$ spring free....anyways this mod can break down for cleaning,has no wires or soder except the 5v add on...i love it and it hits like a champ at what ever config i run it at and cost aarround 30 bucks to make.this thing is all brass and will give you a workout while you vape just rember to switch hands every now and again..lol anyways just wanted to say whats up to all the moders that came befor me and the mods the inspired me to make this...mod on..also if you want to see this thing in hd video here is the link Golden Rod V2.1 E Cig Mod w/ 5 Volt Regulator Add-On - YouTube

Forgive a stupid question re your lovely work - while brass is SO pretty, doesn't the juice dripping down it over time "hurt" the brass?

Naaa, the juice won't hurt the brass. It can just be wiped clean. In fact, the brass would do harm to the juice, which is why you will never find a tank/reservoir made of brass or copper.

That having been said OP, there are several brass tube mods out there, but this is really nice! I kinda want one...

You should use aluminum pipe nipples for the body, you will achieve a significant weight reduction and with a little work they can be made to look quite nice.

My caps, but in store that was more the price for 2: Gilmour 05HCC Brass Hose Caps With Washer

Many to choose from here, some get fancy: Amazon.com: brass hose caps

And the nipple, just choose your length, I think i got 3 1/2" or 4" Amazon.com: 3/4" aluminum nipple

Do note this is schedule 40, so quite thick. Not that heavy, but the caps are. The shorter you build it the lighter it will feel as there is less leverage between the caps when held in your hand. Have you got Ace in Hawaii?

Ahh, I misread your request. You obviously have a source for brass caps, lol. But, from what I gather the nickel is just plated and they are the same caps turned to get rid of the knurling, and polished and plated. Since there is a hole in the top center for the connector, and likely a vent in the bottom center, you could do this with a drill too. Not the plating though, but smooth brass is nice too.

Brass Garden Hose Caps? wow - amazing usage of something I've used 100s of times with the garden hose, and would NEVER have thought of using them; but when seen in your mod - it's SO obvious.

Also to clarify, the pics are not my mod, but the actual Saber Touch. I just bought the parts for the body and wonder if I will actually use them for anything.

A simple way to make the 5V version (not my pic).

Using the robust TI 5V reg is a good idea and it will work quite well simply wired as in the pic. Choose whatever switch you like that can handle some current. But don't use 3V cells like in the pic, always use a pair of 3.7V cells with regulators.

Is there any chane i could get a Step By Step walk through either YouTube Vid or just the picture with Numbers indicating what part is what and a step by step written walk through of how to do it? I really want to make this. I think i'll probably cover it in rubberized spray paint to make it soft to grip. I REALLY wanna make this.

I have two videos on the first page explaing what parts and were to get them,its rather simple to make,but its more of a outline than tut.the thing about mods is to take a idea and make modifications to it.you can buid it to your specs.watch the videos on page one I made two of them,hope this. Helps
