18 is a good place to start...the nic level in juice really doesn't relate well to the nic in the funkarettes since they are absorbed differently and affects diff folks differently...I was a 40yr smoker of funk lights and started with 12mg juice...too low...went with 24...too high...finally settled in at 16mg juice....as you go forward, buy sample sized bottles of juice in diff flavs and strengths until you find your sweet spot...........

Congrats for making the switch. I just want to add that when you get your Ego.Make sure to blow the atty out. There is a liquid that they are sometimes packaged in and it tastes terrible. It's been a while since I bought the full ego kit complete with the atty. Just get a paper towel, blow it out and wipe any excess from the atty. You're going to love this. An ego is a great way to start and there so many great juices out there to try.

Yes you can cut your nic level down with VG but please remember that when you do that, you are going to lose flavor. If you like a flavor and want to cut it, it's best to buy a lower mg nic in the same flavor/same vendor and mix those 2 together. For instance if 18mg is too strong and you want to cut it to 12mg...1 part 18mg to 1 part 6mg with end result of 12mg....18 + 6 = 24 / 2 = 12

I started at around 20-22mg with a store bought Ecig then got 36mg when I made my 1st purchase at MadVapes..went to 24mg for a few months then down to 18mg. 36mg is a bit strong but it will get rid of any craving you have for a smoke. If you were a pack a day or more smoker I would suggest using 24mg (or at least anything over 20mg) for awhile then slowly dropping down the levels. A lot of sites have a few options for nic levels.
Yeah, I was wondering where to start. A lot of these companies sell juice at 24mg/ml of flavored juice and that seems like and awful lot since I currently smoke Camel light analogs. I was thinking I might need to get some PG and thin them down to 12mg of nic. Can that be done?

I started with 24mg this go around. I started vaping the first time about a year ago, but fell off the wagon due to crappy products and too low of a nic level.

The disposables and mini kits from the gas station work in a pinch, but I wouldn't recommend them to anyone starting out as a perfect PV for them. I'm sure you'll enjoy your ego, bobdog. I know I love mine. :)

Hmm...

I started with a Mistic. It's not half bad for the price. It's essentially a rebranded 808D-1 with longer threads. The Mistic cartos are weak and underfilled, but work pretty darn well once refilled with good juice.

The 18mg cartos that they sell were, IMHO, way, way too weak. I refilled one with 24mg juice and it's not bad, but I'm still itching for my 36mg juice to show up.

I'm a little confused. If a gas station Mistic with fairly wimpy juice is giving you a nic overdose, why would an eGo with real juice be anything but worse? Unless you ordered something really low like 6mg juice.....

Not trying to be a .... or anything, but I've used what you're using, and if it's giving you nic overdose symptoms, you probably want to proceed with some measure of caution as you move up to more capable gear....

Yeah, but it is virtually impossibley that he got too much nicotine from a couple puffs.
So I'm doubting that his reaction was from too much nicotine.

Well, you would think so, but what else could it be? PG allergy maybe?

Whatever the case, if he's getting a negative reaction like that, I think "kicking it up a notch" is something that should be done cautiously.....

I've read on this forum that some people get sick when they switch for about a week and then the symptoms go away. Not sure what it was, but I'll proceed with caution. I'll try it again tomorrow when I get back to work as that is the first step in all this. Not to take analogs to work to start with. Then ween myself off of them completely. Then take it from there. One way or the other I'm going to stop smoking. I'm 49 and I've done enough damage to my body already. It's time to stop for good. And the best part is, that I think this is the best solution I've ever seen. If you're interested I'll keep you posted for a bit as it goes along.

Good to hear the bad symptoms didn't pop up again!

Just so you're aware, the cartos are easily refillable, which makes everything much more cost effective. I got just over 10 FULL cartridges out of a 10 ml bottle of juice that cost me 10 bucks (overpriced). That's compared to $15 for 5 pre-filled cartos (or should I say half filled?)

Even as you upgrade to better gear, I see the Mistic as being worth keeping around as a backup or for times/places where the smaller size might be more convenient. This is particularly true once you learn to refill the cartos.

I was thinking the same thing. I might as well keep it as it does have a charger I can buy for $10. Steep, but why waste something that is perfectly good? The thing I like about it, is it looks like an analog and there may be times when that is appropriate more so that an eGo. Thanks for the suggestion. I might even purchase a pack of 5 cartos for it. Or actually, what model cartos will fit it other than Mistic? If any...

Instead of the $10 charger, get the $15 starter kit. That gives you a charger, 2 cartos, plus you'll have another battery. Just seems more cost effective to me.

From what I've read, 808D-1 cartos will work on it, but there is a gap between the battery and the carto. Personally, I just went ahead and got the 5 pack of Mistic cartos for $15. Overpriced, but it's not a purchase I intend to be making at all frequently, so I'm not too concerned about biting the bullet and spending the extra buck or two. Plus there's the convenience factor of them being available locally.

Just got back from Pilot and before I saw your message I purchased the charger and battery and 2 cartos for $15. I'll probably get the 5 pack as well and be able to fill them with my juice when the run out. Then my plan is to keep it in my Jeep so I'll always have one on the road in case I run out of juiced cartos. Or batteries die. Etc. And like you say, they are local, so easy to replenish if need be. BTW, just stuck the battery I've been using for about 6 hours on the charger and the light is green meaning it is charged up still. If my eGo battery lasts that long I'll be impressed.

No way it's still full. Is it screwed in enough?
