Ok ladies and gents, I've decided that it might be best if I just take this alien back to the B&M and see if he knows something else that might work. I've tried every trick you all have given me, and nothing seems to work for long. It just goes right back to burning the hell out of every wick I put in no matter what setting is used, after a couple puffs.

My previous mod was the Cuboid, it worked beautifully despite the ratty 510. I use SS316L exclusively because I have a lot of it on hand.

What mod can match the Cuboid in SS performance?

Edit: forget my comments, I didn't recognize you went through these problems in the other thread. I generally avoid TC on my non-DNA mods, but one other I found pretty good for 316L was the Presa 100W. It's a little bigger than the Alien, and takes either 1 18650 or 26650.

Presa 75, 100 both do 316 SS well in TC, as does my Evic VTC Mini. All 3 use a similar board. And while all 3 are upgradable, support is best for the VTC Mini.

Meh, no big deal. I forgot to mention what thread I got the tricks from anyway.

My SMY SDNA 75 is very good in TC w/SS coils so I probably should have said, "Besides DNA mods, Presa 75, 100 both do 316 SS well in TC, as does my Evic VTC Mini.

I got my SDNA from ecig.com on sale for $48 delivered to the US. I haven't seen it that cheap since then but I've not been looking, either. The Evic VTC Mini should cost considerably less, relatively speaking.

I missed that SMY when Ecig had it at that great price. I did grab a VT75 from e cig city for $50 when that was still in stock. And yes, the Presa does do well. I also found the RX200S (let's face it, same manufacturer) handled 316L well, but it's an awful lot bigger than the Presa or the Alien. Then again, I got my Alien on flash sale from Ecig as well. Only had the blue in stock with no tank, but did package it with 2 LG batteries for $37.

I'll admit if I saw the Alien only available at the $60-70 price point that now seems to be at from US vendors, I'd probably just add a more money and just get a DNA box for TC.

Shop owner has been a trooper with me about this, he asked very nicely if we could try an Alien without the update and I agreed. For now, the Alien with firmware version 1.2.1 is doing much better than the new update. Thank you very much for your suggestions, I've noted these and if I have to replace the Alien again, I think I'm going to try going with a Presa 100 or the VTC dual. 100w - 150w is plenty for me. I don't build more than dual coils, and right now I've yet to go below .20 on a build.
