Figured I'd post in the new members forum since I've been out of the loop so long on this stuff. I currently have an eGo battery, and just bought some of the dual-coil cartos. I know that you arn't suppose to use them on eGo batteries, but I plan on getting a new PV here pretty soon anyways. I have a little bit of money to spend on this, and I think if I invest more than 50 bucks like I did last time I might stick with it a little better. Anyways..

I've been looking around the review section and I've seen quite a few things that I'd probably like (Darwin or Provari etc.). In the end they are about the same price for all the things you need to get started with either one. What I like about the Darwin is that it looks portable friendly and that you set the wattage instead of the voltage, but the Provari seems to be more versatile for tank mods and such.

In the end I'd like something that versatile, works well, and has good battery life. I'm really torn between the Provari and the Darwin, but maybe there is something else out there that would suite my needs/wants. Main question, what other PV's are on par with the Provari and the Darwin?

Many thanks,
Riggs-

I think at this point, those 2 are at the top of the vv mod heap. The Buzz Pro is supposed to come out soon. I don't know what else is out there in vv land.

I agree with this. I prefer the Darwin for a couple of reasons. I get 21+ hours of very heavy vaping and thus never have to carry extra batteries any longer. I like the fact that it doubles as a pass-through on the rare occassion that I do forget to put it on the charger over night. I like being able to change the wattage by just the turn of a small wheel instead of needing to go through 6-7 presses of the button and a series of minues. I also like that the Darwin lays flat. I use to always be knocking over my tube PV and having it roll off the desk and go looking for it. (this is a minor issue, I know).

All the mods mentioned here are nice ones and I would be proud to own. Why don't you rank your desires and then see which one fits those best. I don't have a ProVari, but they are very nice looking. My Darwin is pretty handy (very small form factor, looks neat IMO, the VV ability is nice but becoming less so to me, has an incredible incredible run-time between charges, concerned about juice seeping into the device). I put it in my pocket sometimes and forget it is there. I don't think the Darwin is workable with tanks. I have one of the flexible goosenecks but is is too impracticable to use. I've given up on the tanks anyway.

To possibly confuse the issue, have you thought about any of the established bottom feeding mods? Since I got my first one (a Reo Grand), all the others are gathering dust... It's all good though. Thinking back on the 510 sticks - I'm surprised I made it this far. Enjoy whatever you end up getting!

Well....lots of nice mods available...depends on how much ya want to spend..but for all the nice mods, theres one that stands out for 3.7 and 6 volt vaping, and its an industry standard..The Silver Bullet is about one of the best buys on the market for like $85, battery lasts me for about 2.5 days at a time and works every time just like its sposed to..the others mentioned are fine, but I have issues with them..my issues so wont elaborate...try a SB you wont be sorry.

I would hate to be limited to 3.7v or 6 volt. Ones too low, the other is too high for many. The last poll on the subject I saw came out that 4.5 - 5 volts was the most preferred vaping power level.

Well it seems like the Provari might be the better choice right now. Although in the future I have a feeling that I might end up trading for or buying the Darwin. The are both VV devices, but it's kinda like comparing apples and oranges since they are so different. If my bank ever gets my checks deposited I think the Provair seems like the best choice for me.

Thanks for the help guys/gals,

Mine was delivered to my office on Saturday, and is sitting on my desk at work waiting for me to get my hands on it for the first time...

I decided to go with the ProVari because, as my first mod, I felt that I could count on it. The Darwin looks great, but still looks like it came from someone's garage, where the ProVari looks well machined. Looks can be deceiving, and sometimes hand made beats computer machined, so we'll see....

Can't wait to play with it. Will report, but it's my first mod, so I won't have anything to compare it to.

Let me know how it works out, and also what the battery life is. I'll probably be ordering mine within the week.
