Reading her original post it seemed that the problem was the attys leaking and loosing juice. Instead of going to try and spend all her money for a new battery unit I figured it would be far cheaper to just try some good cartos.

Good point. But if she is set on upgrading her model, then the GLV2 would be an excellent upgrade.

Thank you, I think I'd like the GLV2. However I am rather torn. I watched reviews of the Darwin and Provari (caught myselft drooling a bit), eventually I will be purchasing one of them. Right now, I'm apprehensive going further in with big $$. The GLV is $120 plus $25 for a battery charger and it doesn't look like the batteries would fit on a Provari so I'd be tossing everything out the window when I do upgrade to a variable unit. I really wish there was a site where people could trade equipment, I wouldn't mind investing in something used as a half step. Until then I think I'm going to try some new carts and drip shield.

It's amazing that no one mentions easily the best 5 volt model on the market: the 5 volt GLV2 that is built so well it comes with a lifetime warranty. It's just a little over your $100 mark:

    5 volt GLV2: GLV-2 Electronic Cigarette [GLV-2] - $120.00 : Electronic Cigarettes and E-Liquid - Great Lakes Vapor

Maybe because it is not a 5v PV.

GLV2 atomizer testing under load - YouTube

Here are the results of the test:

    CISCO 1.5 306 1.22 OHM - 3.90V = 12.4 WATTS
    CISCO 1.5 510 1.52 OHM - 4.24V = 11.8 WATTS
    CISCO 2.0 510 1.96 OHM - 4.74V = 11.4 WATTS
    BOGE/LX CARTO 2.87 OHM - 5.47V = 10.4 WATTS
    SLB LR 901 1.87 OHM - 4.67V = 11.6 WATTS
    ??? LR 801 1.45 OHM - 4.17V = 11.99 WATTS
    V4L COOLCART 3.31 OHM - 5.67V = 9.71 WATTS
    V4L CARTO 2.29 OHM - 5.0V = 10.9 WATTS
    MEGA CARTO 2.71 OHM - 5.27V = 10.25 WATTS

    Most people vape between 7-8watts

Thank you, I'm researching it. What atty do you use? What's your battery set-up?

I use a Liquinator tank with 3.0 Boge Catros.

I run RCR123a stacked batteries for 6 volts. It very hot for sure so you want to make sure your carto's are well primed at all times.

    Vape-O-Matic Liquinator 3mL

I like the set up but I would be lying to you if I thought this would be my final rig. I am sure however that the tank is going to stay.

She is running 9 watts now, my rig would push that to 12. Likely a far cheaper option to try the Cartos first.

I love my variable wattage Darwin and think it is the most advanced model, technologically, on the market. It is definitely the most consistent due to the boost circuit technology it uses. If you want more information on the Darwin, just PM me.

Every 5 volt model under load with different resistence attys will put out a range of voltages. It's still a 5 volt model. It doesn't negate the better performance it provides at a higher voltage level than your typical 3.7 volt model. Your comments are just confusing to a new member which helps no one and makes you look like an ...

And most people vape "Blu" and similar models so who cares what most people do. Many who use variable voltage or variable wattage models vape between 8.5 and 8.9 watts not 7 - 8 watts. In fact many of us vape at 12.7 watts without burning the eliquid or hurting the carto, which makes your 7 - 8 watt comment meaningless.

I am considering a VV VW. Not sure I like the idea of a fixed battery where I have to send the unit back. The swing arm is cool but does not suite tanks well. I am still mulling over my options there.

The battery comes with a 1 year warranty and one of the electrical engineers told me they expect them to last 2 - 3 years. Since the cost for a new battery is about the same as the AW 18650 battery and most everyone has a backup, the week it would take to get it replaced every two+ years doesn't bother me.

I do use the fat mega EMDCC's on mine and with the shorty extender have no problem closing it. Same with the CE2's. But I don't know about the bigger tanks.
