Good, better, best silica?

I'm a big fan of the German silica, and the silica linked in the previous post to RTDVapor is indeed the correct product. It consists of 12 tiny strands of silica, grouped into two twisted ropes of 6 strands, and those two groups are also twisted, which results in silica rope that at first glance can appear braided but is actually just double twisted. The resulting silica rope has a diameter of around 2.5 to 3mm.

I prefered it to regular twisted silica for a few reasons. The most important was that, to me, it did a much better job with flavor. It's also more durable, doesn't fray and splinter as easily and can take multiple torchings well. For me, it also seems to wick quicker than regular silica rope.
