Good idea to use VW Box mod to check coils for hot spots?

Ever since I got my sigelei 100W+, my 'ex'-ADV anarchist mod, has been sitting on my desk collecting dust. The only time I use it anymore is to check for hot spots on fresh coil builds. I feel that using the Anarchist mod solely for checking hot spots isn't worth keeping around. So I was wondering if it is a good idea to use my 100w+ to check for hot spots?

Just make sure that you turn your wattage down so the voltage reads 3.8 or less, otherwise you'll pop your coils. I use my sig 150 to build a the shop. The others use a Kamry k100 which has massige voltage drop so the concept remains the same. When you use a half dead battery in a mech, or turn the voltage down on a regulated device that has a buck chip (aka stepdown) like the sig boxes, the coil heats up slowly and more evenly allowing a prettier resultwith less effort...especialy if you have ceramic tipped, non-conductive, tweezers.
